Zastava Mauser, LH

I don't have any purpose for it presently, other than I got it for $950 and these things are as rare as hen's teeth in LH.

Just need to order some dies and the other stuff that goes with them.

Very Cool. Do you have any pics?

It's the rifle at the top.

Nice pick up, congrats on the addition!

It might see use on some European red stag or boar before it sees any use in Africa. Any good links to hunting outfits in Poland?

I have used these guys for Roe Bucks and Red Deer (came home empty handed on Red but that is hunting) http://ultimatehunting.eu/

You should like that rifle. I have an earlier one, the Whitworth Express in .375 and its always been accurate and reliable. The 9.3 is an excellent round too, you will like it.

Always nice to add a new addition to the family. Congrats!

I hope it isn't a "flood damage" special. Really the 9.3 x 62 will make you an excellent rifle. ALMOST as good as a 35 Whelen. With it and your 6.5 you are ready to go to Africa.

BTW did you get that new job you were talking about?

Well, I decided that I was really set on a LH bolt, and if I had to rebarrel a 30-06 to 35W, it was going to cost more money than the Zastava, and not have a Mauser action, either.

I've got two likely offers coming this week. Whoever calls me first is who I'll accept. One of them is with a startup, but I know who's providing the funding, and he doesn't put money on bad ideas. His habit of deciding on winners has him worth north of $1Bn. Cool thing about that job is it is a total greenfield. The 3 guys who are going to run the company are putting together the base team, so I'll get to implement security best practices from the start. A bit nervous about it though - buying and deploying all of the security tools and building the security team...

It'll be my first security architect job, with nobody to fall back on. And we probably won't even start being profitable for 2 years, or maybe even 3 or 4.

Congrats on the rifle! And I guess on the job too....but only because it will allow you to purchase more rifles (y)

Next hunting rifle will likely be a BIG bore...416 of some variety. Given the dearth of LH bolts in big bore, it will likely be a 416 Ruger. ;)

Good luck with those new opportunities.

I was just up in Dallas this weekend...meeting one of my old COs who has been in security the past 20 years...he is in town for the ASIS Conference. Sounds like you do the same sort of stuff he does.

IT security? If he's been around that long, I may have heard of him.

I was thinking of maybe using PRVI brass and bullets until it's time to get ready for Africa or Alaska. Anyone have any thoughts?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
