Was looking around for information on very old Steyr Mannlicher Schoenauer Carbines and found the most information on this site.
While not a hunter I have a unique history in the weapons engineering area for US Army and I was a Small Arms and Ammunition Test Director at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
I was tapped to test the first Russian AK74 rifle brought into the US in 1982 and was also the Test Director for the M16A1E1 rifle adopted as M16A2 by USMC and then US Army and now many others.

I have been loading ammo for 1905 and 1910 Mannlichers since early 80s as well as fabrication brass for them.
I was a member of the US Palma Rifle Team in 1976 and made friends with several of South African shooters and we had a great time together.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
