I'm a very long time lurker who has had nothing useful to add to the amazing conversation, but hope to change that soon! I've enjoyed reading your many informative posts and there was a time when I found some great articles too, like "Bullet Wounds on Game: How Survivable are They?" by Ganyana.

I have had an interest in Africa since I was a boy but never had the opportunity to scratch the itch. My wife and I are hoping to go in 2027.

While I obviously have no pictures from Africa, I will share one from my neck of the woods to make my first post a touch more interesting. This is a late season Whitetail I shot in Northern BC as the sun was getting ready to set. It's a great memory because my son, who was 6 at the time helped track the buck by following the blood on the snow. Oh the excitement when he found it! That part was better than shooting the deer!

Welcome to AH. I love the little story about your son tracking the deer. Where's the Pic of him with the deer?
All the best to you and your son.

Welcome. Hope your tracker gets to visit Africa with you one day.

Sorry, no picture of tracker with that deer! Not sure if he will join us or not. He is 19 now and in university, so we will see if there is an opportunity for us to share the experience. Of course it would be wonderful, but as we plan we will get a better idea of the cost and time of year (so he doesn't miss school) for the hunt.

Good day! Welcome to AH! Great memories you made with that deer!!

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
