Quite a sizeable pebble in my shoe.

And stretching to convey this as fairly. And respectfully. As possible.

How could anybody referring to themselves as a hunter, ever warrant killing wild animals while being watered or fed. And being obscured in a hide, only a few metres from such targets, and this “devil feeding” traded for money. With whatever method of killing?

That goes for any wild game animal. Anywhere.

In the country where I reside is it common practise. And without would such operators be much worse off financially.

I regard myself as a true rifle hunter. With. As far as a chance. To fairly shoot a wild animal. On an even playfield. In the bush. Do I have only a very small chance to succeed. But that’s fine. As long as it’s fair. Can and will I live with my conscience.

Videos of hunting from tree stands in North America abound. That as well is no fair chase. In any sense. Although when having more on-site knowledge of this practise may I perhaps even condone this. To some degree. But goodness. It’s at least not slaughtering children while at a dinner table. This as appalling.

Is anyone surprised that the green brigades are up in arms? Can anyone dispute the facts at hand?

I’m getting on in years. Hunted fairly. A lot. But will never agree with this most popular method, for other, of animal murder. In the true sense of the word.

I usually try to ignore these posts.

They are deliberately inflammatory - inevitably by someone with very few postings, and always begun from a position of extraordinary ignorance and lack of experience.

I would love to see this character come over and demonstrate his skills at sneaking up on a mature whitetail buck almost anywhere in the Eastern half of the country. Or perhaps show Texans how to creep through the mesquite and find that 6.5 year old 10 pointer. Or maybe travel to Europe and demonstrate to a German or Austrian lease holder how to judge barren roe and red deer does and hinds without being able to give them lengthy study from a high seat.

Much hunting in this country and most in Europe is about careful herd management. That requires very selective take - being able carefully judge a management animal from a developing trophy.

At worst he is merely a troll. At best - well, perhaps the "true rifle hunter" really should try to get out a little more before being casting his judgmental ignorance on the wind.

Well as you can't put 2 different likes etc under a post...I put thumbs up...so here is the other one....

I never had any luck fishing in the ocean, pond or creek with a bare hook.

I suggest you remove the pebble from your shoe and concern yourself with things you actually know about rather than stuff you've read online or in some magazine. Your ignorance about hunting in other places is obvious.

Mmmm....so you have zabian blood and used plastic explosives then..... :X3:
My father gave me the idea to use M80s when he told me he fished with bangalore torpedos on the Solomons in WW2. For hunting, I'm down to nine tree stands from fourteen. There's a lot to be said for using the dirt directly behind the animal as a backstop

Reverse troll, view from one of my twenty foot hangers looking in to the "Tunnel of Love".

What if I had a pebble in my shoe about someone using a rifle to kill an animal at 200 or 300 yards? What if I thought the only fair chase was to make your own bow, use sinew for bowstring, flintknap your own arrowheads and only wear clothing you tanned or spun? Does that make my way "better" than your way? Your opinion will stay with me about as long as a pebble in my shoe - discarded immediately.

Not only a pebble in the shoe, but I'm afraid there may also be a rock between the ears. I have very little patience for criticism without knowledge. @Red Leg, you are a much more patient and polite man than I.

I thought "I have a pebble in my shoe" was Mafia code language for authorizing a hit on someone?

How about installing the pebble on the toe of a boot and forcefully inserting it where the sun don't shine?

I am tired of dignifying such questions with an answer. I'll pass.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
