I have the very distinct privilege of hunting with a group of guys I met moose hunting in 2013. Since then we have gone to a cabin in Quebec that one of them owns. However, this year we decided to make my piece of paradise, located just west of Thunder Bay, a more comfortable place to be. Up until now it has been a tented affair. This season we built a cabin.

The basic supporting structure was built with new wood. However, the lumber salvaged from a deck I took down this summer makes up some it. We also salvaged windows and doors from various places. Finally, the heat will be from an airtight stove I got off of Kijiji. The build took the time we had for hunting, and I only got out one morning for a stroll. But, with this cabin I think we are set to explore the thousands of acres of crown land that lies around my land. And, having a warm cabin will make it easier on backs, knees and shoulders. This means I will have many more years with this amazing crew.

Thanks guys! As you know, there ain't no point without the gang. One of our crew stopped coming out last year, and we are trying to entice him back with a warm cabin, bunk and insulated outhouse :LOL::)

What a great cabin retreat.

Glad you have some great friends to hangout with

.......... insulated outhouse :LOL::)

If you turned this baby and pointed it at a bait pile, I'm sure he'd come running back.

Nice cabin, by the way.

The secret is putting a piece of styrofoam insulation as the seat, you're warm right away:)

Nice! I miss my annual moose hunt up in the bush! Hopefully you have several hanging in the trees!

Very old school. And that is a very good thing. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

When you are cold and wet, a toasty warm and dry cabin sure is nice to come back to. I've done my share of hunting out of tent camps, and while tolerable, a cabin makes it pleasurable.

I was a bit adamant about enjoying being in a tent...now I have an excuse not to be :whistle:
