CANADA: The Cabin

What size is it? How many bunks are you planning to put in it? Cooking facilities?
It's 16x24. I would like to get 4 bunks, a table, airtight wood stove and kitchen area. We have a propane griddle and two burner that we bought from a friend (who was very generous with his price!)

Missed this somehow when you first posted, but nicely done!

Will you be installing gas lights as well? They are quiet and will help keep the place warm.
I think we are putting in LED. I never considered gas, but I will raise it with the boys. Thanks

Last time I was in thunder bay it was 30 below zero. Far prefer a cabin like yours to a tent. Lol
Yeah, it can get pretty nasty. And, we want to hunt later in the season, when the snow is down. This cabin is pretty much essential for that!

We got up again this summer to finish the interior for our fall/winter hunt (Chris got a Moose Bull tag, bless him). This time it was a smaller crew, but my nephew and dog came lol

We insulated and closed the rafters and walls. Barry did a phenomenal job running electrical to each bunk. Man, it's not roughing it now!

You can see we built two "L" shaped rooms with a wall towards the eating area. We also installed the wood burning stove

I cannot wait until this fall!! You can see the conduit on the wall to the right of the stove - that's where I am going to put a counter and sink. We have a propane cook top and two burner that will go there too. Water is brought in, but we are setting up rain barrels for shower and wash. That's next.

Please feel free to post pictures of your own cabin paradise!

Very nice!!! A lot of hard work and effort goes into building a cabin that far out. I have so much respect for that! I hope you enjoy it with friends and family for many years to come!!!

Here is my 20x24 river cabin I built in 2017. We hunt and fish several times a year there and I especially enjoy it when my grandparents and parents are there as a large family.

Thanks brother. I really like the way you did that ceiling. Is that barn board?

You’re very welcome! It’s actually just tongue and groove pine but does have a rustic look to it.

Very nice comfy looking. It's hard to tell folks we are roughing it AND keep a straight face.

Haha it really is! We used to really rough it but we have power and water “well” now!

I wish i had a stove like yours. Will you be hunting out of yours this season?

We will be hunting. Chris gota moose bull tag. I am not actually sure who out of the crew will be able to make it though. This pandemic has kicked the crap out of everyone. I am really hoping my two boys will be able to come. That would be the next generation stepping up! We saw a huge bull a couple of years back when we had a cow tag( of course!). But there is also deer up there so I really hope we get something this year.

I found the stove on kijiji. A fellow used it to heat his house since the 80's. But, he is now too old to cut the wood. It's air tight and a that makes a huge difference. One time in a canvas tent with one of those small stoves I figured I went through a log an hour one particularly cold night. This is the Ritz in comparison.

Yeah I’m ready for all of this COVID to die down and things to normalize. Hopefully your pals, boys and you can go and have a great time! Mayne you’ll see that bull again and Chris can take him.

Im sure it puts out some heat!

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
9 game animals taken
Has anybody hunted with Phumba safari in steenbokpan south Africa?
