Awfully short barrel for that much powder/case size. I wonder can it be downloaded with some faster powder to get a good burn and if so, how much velocity can it get?

Looks beautiful. Maybe it's just me, but the rear island seems really high. Might be an illusion due to the proportions of the rifle.

Beautiful rifle (I wish mine had irons) but shame about that short barrel. Mine is ear splitting with the full length barrel I can't imagine the blast from a short barrel.

Allow me to be frank. Ridiculous rifle in an even more ridiculous barrel length. With the muzzle brake it would be like standing next to a Panzer Mark 6 (that is a Tiger 88mm) when it fires.

If anywhere near case capacity it would be a fire breather at dusk for sure!

If Ryan Breeding built it, I’ll shoot it, and bet it shoots lights out. If I owned it, I’d send it back to him to dispense with the break and likely set barrel back, rechamber to 450 Rigby.

The 460 weatherby is pretty much identical in case capacity to the 450 rigby. The main difference is the belt and the pressure difference. You could copy exactly the loads from a 450 rigby and load them into a 460 weatherby with very minimal difference in velocity.

Agreed on cutting off that ugly brake.

As a stopping rifle, not needing to be used often at all, and when you do need it you probably won’t be concerned with recoil, it’s probably a dandy rifle. For anything other than stopping a charge that’s gonna be awfully loud.

Absolutely stunning!

Such a brutish caliber and that too, with such a short barrel length. The beastly muzzle brake only makes things worse.

That said, a Ryan Breeding 5 shot .505 Gibbs with a 24” barrel is my dream big bore magazine rifle of all time. Mr. Breeding is an unrivaled master at his craft.

That is a beautiful rifle for sure, but yeah maybe a bit too short. I just can't imagine the brake being that close - Ouch!.

We have my father-in-laws old .460 Wby from the 70's. A work mate of his got it for him to go to Mozambique with, but he never used it there as the Portuguese left and open civil war pretty much ended those plans. My son and I like to get it out and shoot it in remembrance of him, along with our .375 and .458 WM. We have actually talked about cutting the integral muzzle brake off, making it about a 23" barrel instead of the 26" ear beater it is now. Then maybe loading some 550 gr pills down in the 2100-2200 fps range. The case can sure take the longer projectiles if the barrel will stabilize them. Will probably just leave it as is, but fun thinking about it.....

Ryan Breedings work is on par with anyone in the world, but his theory behind a dangerous game rifle is unique. I believe he worked under Gil Van Horn, as their work is nearly identical. They both like short barrel for hunting in thick stuff, muzzle break for fast follow up shots and those iron sights you see on the rifle, they are the best express sights I've ever looked down. The rear is fully adjustable but not janky at all. I had a chance about 15 years ago to buy one of his really fancy 505 gibbs rifles on a GMA action. Could have got it for 10k and it had copious amounts of engraving and the wood was outstanding. At the time it might as well have been 10 million, I didn't have the money.

Sportsmans Legacy had a rifle that was a Van Horn in 458 Lott exactly like this one, I believe they sold it for $6500.

I do like his rifles....and I like short barrels....but 18 is bit short even for me....and not in 460.....500 jeff. ...505 gibbs...or 450 rigby with 20 to 21 inch barrel be nice in one of his rifles without the cheese grater on end...but have my cz in 500 jeff with 20 inch barrel..so sorted....chatted to him quite a few years ago about possible rifle but never happened

I've been unable to receive correspondence with RB Rifles through the years.

However, I do appreciate the frank & brutally honest, opinions. I have no experience with the 460, or muzzle breaks.

Thank you!

Well, I love the look of it. Nice wood and checkering.

I think a 460 Wby is too much of a good thing for me. Too much velocity, muzzle blast, and recoil. Can’t think of any reason to launch a 45 cal bullet faster than a 458 Lott does. On the other hand, If you can shoot it well - kudos to you!

Some responses have suggested downloading this cartridge. I am not a hand loader, but is this safe in such a large capacity cartridge? I thought there was a significant risk of hangfires?

Going to check my reloading manuals for what they list for safe minimum loads. (I don’t hand load yet, but have been gearing up and researching it).
