I looked out my front windows early this morning and see a skunk and a ground hog in the front pasture.
I grabbed a rifle I haven’t personally drawn blood with. A Danzig Mauser in 7.92x57mm or 8x57 JS,
Most often called 8mm Mauser.
Sneaking out in stealth mode I obviously sounded like a pregnant Yak to the ground hog because when I got under 40 yards it bolted. The unfortunate skunk looked around and went back to grubbing in the grass.
I got a rest leaning against a barn and aimed for its forehead, he was facing me. The bullet impacted high and hit it in the spine above the front shoulders. DRT. No spray. He had more white than usual.
A fun off season stalk with my poor mans Rigby.
