Hi All,
I have been a "lurker" ...or I prefer, "skulker" for about a year....
I originally found this site researching info for our first African trip in spring 2020.
I am a lifetime avid hunter/ outdoorsman, primarily based on or near the "Tug Hill" of Northern NY, but have been privileged to also hunt Georgia, Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland...mainly northern woodland species, deer, moose and bear.
My wife and I are scheduled for a plains game hunt in Eastern Cape of South Africa with Kingsview Lodge, (West of Port Elizabeth) who we had extensively researched, and followed up with ...well, essentially all their clients from the past five years, to outstanding reviews.
They offer a very personalized trip, which out of domestic compromise is balanced 50/50 with hunting and non hunting activities. Our limited budget and available home space is keeping my wish list relatively short...kudu, wart hog, impala, zebra and most likely a blue wildebeest.
We are looking forward to visiting Addo Elephant reserve, ocean fishing, probable visit to a big cat rehab facility. We really have no interest in any of the more commercial stuff...bungee jumping, night life, beach life, etc.
Any suggestions on unique South African experiences in the area? We are trying to minimize times in vehicles.

Skulker does sound more active. Welcome to the posting side.

Go play with sharks.

Welcome to AH! I’d encourage a trip to Kruger Park, but that’s a fair ways from the Eastern Cape.

This past August/September I toured the Cape for nine days after hunting for eight. It's quite diverse. West of Port Elizabeth tells me you're getting into the drier region. So that is covered. Anyway, aside from Addo I'd say head to Tsitsikamma Forest and NP to experience the wetter coastal region. Storms River or Natures Valley are both breathtaking areas . I'd say De Hoop reserve further southeast along the coast to experience the true untouched Fynbos ecoystem and catch the whales along the coast, but that's a serious drive.
Enjoy!
