I just returned from Nova Scotia. I was shocked at the level of anger toward our president and the current administration. It was so intense that at church the pastor prayed for the country in the face of the trade war they have been subjected to. The attitude is almost one of a country under attack. In the face of that, they have unified behind the party in power. A horrible decision, but there it is.

Trump has no idea the impact of his words and actions have on the international stage. He is doing lasting damage to our relationships with our long time allies. Those of you who think he can do no wrong may not care, but I can assure you that this will cost us in the long term.

WAB, in no way is this an attack on you!
I respect your opinions and always enjoy your posts!

When in the F did people become so damned weak that when one person says something they allow it to consume them?

I'm an American of Irish descent, a Christian, from the South, in the construction business, I've had all kinds of shit talked about me, called all kinds of names, I don't give a damn! Sticks and stones, lighten up Francis, toughen up buttercup, grow a pair!

You can act like a man... Vito Corelone!

But what are you blaming him for?

If Trudeau and the liberals caused you guys problems to the point of where you have no confidence, blaming some loudmouth who literally and voting for same stuff is insane.
What are we blaming him for? How about giving the liberals a rallying point to shift focus away from Trudeau and costing the the conservatives a 5% lead in the polls. This election will be decided by voters who traditionally don’t vote and all they can see is a threat south of the boarder. I don’t know why that is so hard for you to wrap your head around prior to trump starting his utter foolishness the conservatives had the next election all but sewn up now thanks to him a short sighted an naive portion of the electorate that typically doesn’t vote and has no understanding of the real issues at play the liberals will win handedly.

A portion of the blame deservedly belongs to poilievre who’s been unable to tone down his brashness and combative nature which easily leads to comparisons to the boorish nature of trump. And credit were credit is due Carney has has skillfully portrayed himself as the steady hand on the wheel and the calming influence the political scene needs. He also timed the election so as to not have to disclose his finances and financial holdings.

But make no mistake about it a portion of the blame lies with trump and his inability to act with any amount of tact or political ability.

he’s not one person no one in Canada would give a shit if he was just Donald trump the buisness man and b list celebrity. When he is president of the United States he speaks for 340 million people and the largest military in the world.

I don't think anyone on the international stage now pays the least attention to what Trump says any longer - which is no small indictment of a President of the United States. The issues are caused by what he is doing - and not doing.

I’d of gladly met you somewhere for a beer if I’d of known your were in province @WAB , did you atleast get a donair while you were here?
I tried to convince my wife, but we were literally in Dartmouth for two days. I will be back next February and have a kitchen pass to grab a schooner or two with you.

February is perfect we’re hardly fishing at all then it’s too cold for lobster to move much. If it works out right might be able to squeeze in a rabbit hunt. I run hounds every chance i get that time of year.

That is what I can’t wrap my head around why does trump get a free pass to say what ever pops in his mind at the moment when all other politicians are held accountable for their statements?

Yes, it will reduce the profits of corporations - those corporations that trade in imports. But high import prices allow domestic manufacturing corporations to produce.
There is no such thing. Please point out one Fortune 500 company that does not participate in the global economy.

While not an exact indication of intelligence, travel outside one’s own continent can help one to more than “barely know much about anything outside their country.” So, I am curious, how many countries have you been to outside of Europe?

My count outside of North America and also not counting anywhere in South America and Central America is twenty-one without ever serving in the military. There are hordes of Americans that are way more well-traveled than I am, including several on this platform. Know your audience!
Well stated. For me personally I have been to 51 countries so far...52 later this year when I visit Cameroon for a safari. Generally I know more about the history and culture of the foreign country I am in then the folks I meet know about the USA and our culture.

Nobody in the West wants Russian land. Get off of your paranoia.
dear Scott CWO, I highly appreciate your guarantees (I hope no one in the West will violate them in the future), but nevertheless I would like to note that from the outside it is the Western idea of advancing its military structure to the East that looks like a really paranoid idea.
Considering the main topic of the forum: if you're sitting in a tree and a bear is climbing up to you, what should you think? Even if he assures you that your fears are paranoid. (yes, the bear does not violate any written agreements).

This kid was most likely forced to the front line as cannon fodder. It’s too bad we don’t have his account of his final days. I wonder how firm his beliefs were when all his comrades were laying dead around him and a $200 Ukrainian drone was chasing him around a tree.

Another spoiled unappreciative brat that hopefully didn’t breed before he went to Russia.

The main difference in perspective is who you consider the bear. The real issue the world is facing? Russia is a bear, china is another bear and now America is acting like yet a third bear.

Just exactly what I was thinking. It is why one builds a strong fence to keep the bear contained, and why anyone who has had any close experience with the bear wants to be on the outside of the fence.

You guys are discussing one of these bears, right?

The “Bear” reference is quite a coincidence. My brother dropped off this week some military citations and pictures my mother had in her collection.

This one was of a Russian recon plane flying low and slow over our operating area off Oman in early 1980.

A U.S. Tomcat is escorting the Russian plane out. That is our groups 46 hovering over our groups box. This was in support of “operation Eagle Claw”

We incorrectly called these planes “Bears” the real Bears were high altitude spy planes.

Which brings us back to the issue of NATO expansion

Countries that have ‘had a dose’ of Russian control have fled to the protection of the NATO umbrella

NATO doesn’t threaten Russia

It is the choice of nations seeking to escape totalitarian control that threatens totalitarian states
