Your Favorite Africa Hunting Photo

Me and Steve. A man who helped me get my lion. We spent 23 days together in Zimbabwe and he was such a cheery person.

My father and my son on their first African Safari with Liam Urry. This was my sons first animal he ever hunted at 5 years of age.

The same 2 back home with a nice muley that my dad shot.

My son’s first time in Africa with me. Based on his behavior throughout the entire safari, I knew that he was born with a hunter’s blood coursing through his veins.

That first day in Mr. Cheffing’s camp on the first ever African safari, Kenya 1974. What initially started as “Hey, this’ll be a nice once in a lifetime exotic hunt” soon became “I’ve got to come back here once every five years”.

This was on my first trip to Africa, in 1971, my first elephant, taken with a cartridge I designed myself and fired from a rifle custom made for me. I think I was still in a state of shock. After I had emptied my rifle and the elephant had stopped moving, it occurred to me that I should reload. I opened the bolt and found to my surprise a round in the chamber and a full magazine. I had evidently trained myself to the point that reloading was automatic and I was unaware of having done it.

My PH asked me what I had thought of the scream the elephant gave out when the first shot hit him and I had to confess that I hadn't heard it, nor the sounds made by my rifle going off. It was a one time experience.

I’ve always liked this one.

Hard to pic a favorite but my Sable and my dads last hour of the hunt Kudu certainly standout.

The landscape was the most amazing thing for me in Africa. I keep returning to this particular photo.
People are different, yet somehow similar all over the world. You can see the african animals elsewhere too.
But the land! .... oh, what a land!

My 60” + Kudu 2021 in Zimbabwe, PH was Allan Shearing, trackers and game scout were great. To not detract from the picture I was holding the camera. Second picture was 2014 in Zambia, my first buffalo.

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
