Winchester Safari Express .416 Rem.

Enysse, I think you already know you have a keeper there.

I am a big fan of the current model 70.

Both of my big bore bolt-action stoppers are built on this very action.
Slick, and quick, to operate with dependable extraction, every time.

What do you intend for sighting; open, scope, ghost/peep, halo/trijicon ?

Have you dirtied the bore yet ?

Happy shooting.

Hi Paul, I'm still assembling all the necessary reloading gear and I'm working on getting a scope. Still haven't made a decision yet, I did think of a red dot type scope too. I have tried them on shotguns and like them. Slowly, I'll acquire all the good stuff to get it shooting. I do point the gun the window at my place, practicing holding aim just with open sights. It's a quality gun for the $$$, it cycles very nicely, I'm sure it will with real bullets too! I'll keep people updated on the progress. Thanks for the interest.

Beautiful rifle. I have been thinking about the 416 instead of a 375. The ones I have saw were impressive guns. Tho I have yet to be able to burn any rounds threw one.

Hello,news :
Now , I own my 2d Winch 70 Safari Express : but cal .416RM (First .375H&H)
.416RM is a fabulous caliber !!! Cheaper than .416 Rigby(Rigby Low preasure .. I know but RM is cheaper..)
Recoil stronger than my Winch 70 SE .375H&H but easy to shot, no problem. If you have no pb to shot .375H&H , I'll have no pb with the .416RM
Ammos : Hornady DGX DGS and a french manufacturer Sologne (400grs and 300grs)
Balistic (close to .375H&H), energy etc id .416Rigby
First I want to sell my .375 H&H and keep only my new .416RM ... but .. but AH members tell me NO keep the both .. I have kept the both and it's perfect!:satisfied:
Scope for my new Winch70 SE .416RM : Leupold Var3 1.5-5x20,

Bebo it was pure brilliance on your part to keep both.

Seems to me I was in also the same delima. I looked at a Ruger RSM in 375H&H and my buddy also had the same gun in 416 rigby. So... I bought both. Welcome to the club my friend. you'll be glad you have both. Trust me..

This big old bull (body size) shot with the Winchester 70 Safari Express .416 Rem Mag at about 20 feet. A 2 hour stalk through the mob to select an old bull worthy of a trophy. Insurance shot taken but not needed, as autopsy showed! The bull cart wheeled after being hit in the second rib behind the off side shoulder then dropped. 400 gn Woodleigh bullet recovered in on side shoulder punching straight through center of heart.

During a recent Zimbabwe Safari I encountered two PH's who carried and swore by their Winchester Model 70's in .416 Rem Mag. Theirs were not the current Safari Express model but the older CRF Classic Super Express models.

My Winch SE .416RM Leupold VX3 1.25-5x20 (very good eye relief)

congrats on the rifle , I am a huge fan of the Winchester M70's

Can't go wrong with a Model 70, great setup you got there bebo.

Nice rifle. My older son has a LH stainless M70 Classic in 416 Rem. Just shot a few hogs and bears so far with it so far. The Remington Safari Grade ammo loaded with 400g A-Frames is pretty sweet
