Many were made. B-Square. Williams. Weaver. Pachmayr.

If anyone has a drilling fixture for a mauser I sure could use one. The costs of getting simple gunsmithing done these days are not justifiable, plus they tend to screw up more than they fix. Hence, I need the tools to do it myself.

i think a local machine shop could do it on the cheap, so long as you provided the bases of choice as templates! tell 'em to put 8-40s here and there and slap some Talley's on it! If jigged up just right you could probably use bases as your guide (even if just for punch or pilot marks.) years ago, i did just that (so proud to take this old 257 to an indoor 100 yd range on a rainy day-owner opens up all cases and was pleasantly surprised! (i exit with tail between legs moments later, when I realize the base screws ever so slightly protruded into the receiver, effectively preventing the bolt from moving! haste made waste! so the owner told me about hunting in Eritrea and Ethiopia while stationed there in the Navy back in the 60s as a consolation prize.

Find a machinist who can do this, a pin lug job. They won't have any trouble doing the base holes.

Here's the current project I need it for. It was made in '53 but remains unfired. I want to put some Talley bases on it and get QD rings engraved to match the original engraving for my youngest. I don't trust shadetree gunsmiths as they'll just mess up the gun setting up the vise. I live in a leftist state so there is no way a machinist would let me borrow some time on a bridgeport. Hence, still need a jig.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
