Serious Safety Concerns for South Africa Hunt

Go and enjoy. We never think twice about hopping in the car and driving down the expressway which is many, many times more dangerous.
@Tucketed — Agree, driving anywhere in FLORIDA is a Danger, average Driver there is 96 years old, reflexes of a Turtle, eyes like Blue Marbles from Cataracts, deaf as a rock, and likely lost & confused.

Go and enjoy! Not long ago a city policeman pulled a car over in our little city in South Alabama because a strange liquid was leaking out of the trunk. Turned out the guy had dismembered a person he had murdered randomly and was looking for a place to stash the pieces.
People still flock here by the thousands to stick their toe in the Gulf. Violence happens everywhere.

KAVIK----"I left USA because I feel "safer" elsewhere for the Fall of the next Reich"

I'm not exactly sure the meaning behind this statement, but it sounds pretty stupid. If you are comparing our current presidential regime here in the USA to the NAZI party, you're clearly an idiot.

Most of the violence against whites in South Africa is directed at isolated rural farms where the victims are assumed to be unarmed and unable to offer significant resistance. These are planned and premeditated attacks.

A Safari Camp full of armed and skilled shooters is not the type of target they are after.

Is your real name Rosie and did you move to Ireland?

I'm with others on the driving to and from. In South Africa on our way to the farm/camp, I sleep. I want to die like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I travel to South Africa regularly, often with my family. Drove about 4000 km on holiday at Christmas and my wife and son went again in February and I went last month. Crime happens everywhere but there isn't a criminal under every rock.

You forgot to add driving the wrong way up a freeway near you……our is that heading towards you :X3::whistle:

It seems an oxymoron that people would book a hunting safari to a country where buffalo, lions, and leopards roam yet be anxious about "safety."
That is very true. Don’t forget the big slithering 9’ long snake. The Black Mamba.

Seems like I read somewhere that everything in Africa has teeth, fangs, claws and will kill you.

True! I’m more worried about snakes, spiders and tick fever than people robbing me.

Heading to Africa (Namibia) for the first time in July. On the way in, I drive to Houston, fly to Atlanta, then fly to Johannesburg and spend the night before Windhoek in the morning. Houston and Atlanta are the Detroit and Baltimore of the south, can’t wait to get to the safety of Joberg!

This book was in the door cubby of my P.H.’s truck last trip. I said we’re in trouble if the book of snakes is this thick. I worry about things close by, not what the news says.

This is a Mozambique spitting cobra. It popped up after the P.H. had walked over him, about three feet in front of me. It behaved and we went separate ways.
