Rimmed (only) Cartridges

6.5x65 R - Blaser K95 Kipplauf rifle for a lightweight mountain rifle.

30 R Blaser - another barrel for the Blaser K95 for medium to large animals requiring more punch than a 6.5.

9.3x74 R - Blaser BB97 over/under (both barrels the same) for large game and DG where legal.

500/416NE - Krieghoff Big Five or Blaser S2 for the times when you really need something to stop exactly where it is.

@BeeMaa
All that and no mention of an R8.
Don't they chamber rimmed cases in the R8. If they don't shame on them

You crack me up @Bob Nelson 35Whelen.

As far as I can see the only rimmed cartridges available in an R8 are 17HMR, 22lr, 22WMR and 22HORNET. Not quite good enough for most of what I hunt.

Trust me, 3 more Blaser rifles and a Krieghoff double would be quite enough to raise the eyebrow of the Department of Finance. ;) Seeing as I don't live in Illinois to win the Mega Millions...no real danger of me getting them. Cheers mate.

EDIT - Forgot about the 10.3x60 R, but I'm not getting that one either.

Mmm...
Ones I like ...not used all..but either used or seen used
.22 hornet
7x65r
9.3x74r
30-30
375 flanged
45-70
470NE
500NE
What I would have are a matched set of doubles by rigby in
.22 hornet
7x65r
9.3x74r
450NE
470NE
500NE
And as they are also rimmed 20 bore barrels on the 9.3...and 12bore on the 450...470..and 500...think that would make me happy.... :A Thumbs Up: :D Beers:

Without including all the shotgun gauges, 22LR, 22WM, 30-30, 7x65R, 44-40, 45LC, 9.3x74R, 45-70 tend to get the most use out of the current rimmed, or rimless, calibers I have. Looking to add a 450NE or the 450 #2 to the group and expect it will see more use than the number of buffalo around here would indicate. Rimmed calibers probably see more use by me because of the guns that use them, levers, doubles, single actions, and single shots. Just something about those actions that appeals to me.

9.3x74R in a P14
7x57R and 257 Roberts rimmed in No.1 Enfields
45 Long colt in an Enfield
25-35 and 22 Hi-Power Savage 99
30-30 in a model 170 Savage pump
Various 357 Mag. and 30-30 based wildcats in Martini Cadets
405 Grenadier ( .411 in blown out 7.62x54R case )in a Siamese Mauser
303 full wood No.4 Enfield
375x2 1/2" Flanged Nitro Express in LSA sporter
If I can find them, I would like a Krag and a 38-40 in a '92 Winchester.

My grandfather’s old 303 British. I never knew the man but his son passed the rifle on to me. It still shoots straight and with PMP factory 174gr soft points at moderate velocity meat damage is minimal.

The ones I have 30/30 303 3040 444 45/70 450.400 470 500. Hand gun to rifle 44 and 454. Have owned a few others. Can’t pick one because it depends on what I’m doing. If I had to choose ???? No can’t.

In order of number of rounds fired per year typically

45-70 Govt
9.3x74R
22LR
28Ga
30-30 Win
44-40 Win
20Ga
410
7x65R
12Ga

Can't really pick a favorite either. Depends on the day, the mood, the quarry, the weather....

I've owned and shot a ton of different ones. Sold off most. My favs include: 22 Hornet, 30-30, 38-40, 45-70, 45-75 44-90 and 45-110.
