It did.

The kicker is, this was factory ammo. Barnes LRX 190gr.

I am, the rifle is a custom build by Bob Beck, I am going to send it back to him. I have about 300 rounds through the rifle, it has run fantastic until this happened this afternoon.

with 300 rounds through it I am surprised that if it were a headspace issue, damn well has signs of it though. Could be a mixture of a few things with all the stars aligning to create a perfect storm. A severely out of spec case maybe combined with a slightly out of spec chamber. Was this round loaded from the magazine? Could the bullet have setback into the case during recoil then fed into the chamber? Set to far out and the mono metal bullet buried in the lands? Whatever it was, pressure was substantial, glad you and your rifle are in one piece.

Agree with post above, 300 rounds and no issues then this. Seems more like an ammo issue.

210g VLDs is what I have mostly shot, but I was going to take it to Africa next month, so I was trying out something different.

These days I'm very leery of Barnes factory ammo as the company is no longer under Barnes control and QC isn't the same. I bought a box of 7mm ttsx 150gr and they were a mix of brass and silver primers. So much for lot to lot consistency. If it is good with other ammo then you should send that box back to Barnes because it looks like a case for recall. Factory ammo is invariably loaded conservatively (lawyers) and that round with the blown primer and ejector mark looks really hot

Check OAL on your bergers and on the ttsx loads. Check your chamber with a bullet comparator. I’m interested to see what those numbers are.

That is definitely too hot. The blown primer might be a sign of excessive head space, but you also have a lot of brass that flowed into the extractor cutout (I am assuming this is a push feed by the look of it). Cartridge brass usually doesn't start to flow until you get up to around 80,000 psi. I would call Barnes, send them the lot number on the box and the blown case and tell them what happened. It is also possible that this particular piece of brass was never hardened the way it was supposed to be. Did it stick in the chamber? Too soft of brass will do this same thing at normal pressure.

Too hot no doubt. Maybe the perfect storm of variables. The most likely may or may not be the reason and it will be difficult for anyone to admit a fault or problem.

IMO- may be something like not enough clearance in neck or throat and/or throat (freebore) is too short. Some ammo seems ok and shoots well as hot ammo many times does... then a type of ammo that may be running at upper end of perssure coupled with a type of bullet, that if stuck into lands, will increase pressure- perfect storm.

Yeah, you can see where the extractor pulled the rim of the casing. Just under MAG on the case.

WOW!!!!! I would contact the ammo company real quick and in a hurry. If there is any damage to your rifle, I would let them know as well and have them reimburse you.

I had a similar issue with factory sako ammo in my 300wm.
2 rounds out of a box blew the primers out.
the rest of the box was fine, shot them out and another box or two with no further issues.
