The Core Conflict: Geography vs. International Law
  • Territorial Waters vs. Transit Passage: Because the Strait is less than \(24\) nautical miles wide at its narrowest points, its waters overlap with the territorial limits of Iran and Oman. Under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), this creates a right of Transit Passage. This legal doctrine ensures that all ships and aircraft enjoy the freedom of navigation and overflight solely for the purpose of continuous, expeditious transit, and it cannot be suspended by coastal states.
  • The Iranian Position: Iran has frequently challenged this framework. While Oman generally adheres to UNCLOS, Iran is not a party to the treaty. Iran routinely asserts that vessels require its explicit authorization to enter the Strait and has utilized the waterway as a "bargaining chip" to enforce naval blockades or protest sanctions.

Yes it would seem like the US-Iran war has resulted in stronger Iranian controll over the strait. Wonder if Trump will let them keep control and right to collect fees for transit through a treaty as the Iranians seem to think.

Yeah Iran wanting control of the straight from their shores all the way to the shores of multiple countries is a pipe dream at best.

Just like Irans proposal to offer shipping “insurance” that could only be paid by bitcoin; their grasping for straws knowing good and well they can’t enforce it.

All the while milking the outrage of nations that have and will do nothing in the conflict while complaining the conflict hasn’t been resolved in a weeks time.

Again we see how important the trade through Hormuz is to so many nations, who will do nothing to reopen the straits.

Typical Iran crap, time to just start bombing the crap out of them and take them back to the Stone Age where the leader prefer to live.
They need to receive a couple rounds of carpet bombing. Every time they stick their head up, flatten it to oblivion.

Bit simplistic I would say.....yes its impacting countries.....but it to me is not as easy as it was first touted....and even though I am an ignoramus about these things....I find my gut feelings are slightly more accurate than someone else's.....the Iranian powers in charge ...ie the Republican guard don't give a fk what....the Donald or anyone else says or cares about....this to me gives them serious leverage....they can still inflict huge damage on neighbouring countries infrastructure..oil..gas etc....and before youall start on me me I am in full agreement they should never have nuclear anything.....and the leadership should be changed or basically annihilated....but there is no clear outcome at the moment...so honestly why the fk are other countries going to get embroiled in this situation.....and I will tell you straight my gut told me it was a potential fkup at the start......my gut is pretty good...go to the start of the Chinese virus thread...and my early posts predicted the global fkup thst was about to happen...and I was poo pooed by some pretty jacked up members on here.....so :E Shrug:

Except we are not willing to get oil infrastructure in the Gulf get wiped out. Iran still has plenty of missiles and drones to rain on Gulf States.

One miscalculation on our part was not getting Ukraine's cost-effective technology for drone defense. When you use a missile costing millions of dollars and has a long manufacturing time for a drone that costs tens of thousands and takes a few weeks to replace, it is a losing strategy.

Trump is after quick gratification. Iranians are aware of this. They are waiting for him to declare victory and quit.

It’s crazy that Don Jr is the only “kid” Trump won’t travel to a private island to see….

I was beginning to worry, But I see RLD and Big_Easy playing tag team again. Libtard Toronto luya and libtard NC wannabe. We are saved! Democracy is saved! The hypocrisy of the lawyerly trade is something to behold- forever living in the world of purposefully convoluted interpretation of language. Provides good job security for sure. Arguing out of both sides of the mouth while keeping the straight face of smug. ;) Fruit of poisonous tree, for thee not me or vice versa to suit situation.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
