If you’re concerned about the ballroom you evidently haven’t seen the news on the new Presidential Library yet. :sneaky:
Megalomania..?

Megalomania..?

Only if you consider the last 15 President prior to Trump to be megalomaniacs as well since they all have them.

I'm not fully confident in this call, but it appears whoever is running the show in Iran has blinked.
I'm listening to their narrative and evaluating it through a gradient of propaganda.

If trump says we are negotiating, they say, no talks are in progress, we haven't talked to anyone.
If trump says we won, they say "we will continue the war"
If trump says we blew up all their offensive capability, they say neighboring countries are at risk and we are going to push the attack.

But the excerpts on several news sites say suddenly they are talking about ending the war if there are agreements in place and that they are only targeting US targets.
That's quite a change in position on the gradient.

The market seems to think so. I jumped in shorting the brent crude with a small position at about 107. very small position. May short the vix as well. I don't think the fat lady has sung.

My guess is they're going to be like Toad talking to Badger in The Wind in the Willows.
"I'd have said anything in THERE..."

I think the fuse has only just been lit on market impact. Some of the producer infrastructure has 2-3 year timeline to get them online. LNG is going to be degraded for some time.
Should be an interesting Q2 for all markets involved.

Whenever you try and take people OFF of welfare, they scream bloody murder. That's what Trump is trying to do, only it's with countries not individuals. Let there be no mistake. Trump said remove ALL tariffs with all countries and open the world to free trade. What was the G7's response? "Uh, well, er', uh, ahem......uh, gee no, we can't do that".
Yup it’s like that when you get no freebie and got to cough up .

The USA has labelled both Canada and the EU as threats to their "National Security" in order to justify new duties declared by their military Commander-in-Chief on the international trade of steel and aluminum. So I suggest that USA made products such as firearms and ammunition should be sold exclusively within the USA so Canada and Europe can help our esteemed neighbour defend themselves and improve their national security. Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that Canadians and Europeans should make do with their own products exclusively. For all our AfricaHunting friends in Canada, Europe, Africa and elsewhere, please don't buy any American made products. Lets's support the USA in their concern. One can never be too careful when there are evil guys to deal with, and it is our duty to help, as always.
You are absolutely right, evil indeed. Your government is dealing with the Chinese and over there begging for trade deals. Not sure how that fits in with your narrative of making do with their own products exclusively.

Isn’t Obama’s incomplete and massively over budget?

Original budget was $350mil I’ve heard anywhere from $600-$800mil to complete.

You had the sensible option to make an agreement or deal as he loves to call it.. Then you went head on with Israel and attacked them..thus making a global energy crisis..

And a furious iranian regime..hellbent on striking back..

I think the only viable option is to have Israel to stand down and stop the attacks..implement a ceasefire and start negotiating with Iran..perhaps through Pakistan..

Trump need to control Israel and force them to stop bombing..

The negotiations must also be on getting control of whatever enriched uranium they posess and pressure them to terminate whatever nuclear program they have through IAEA inspections..

Otherwise you risk being in the famous quagmire..militarily speaking.. The 7 islands in Hormuz are heavily fortified and the long persian golf coast will be almost impossible to control. They probably have mobile missile launch capabilities along the coast..

A prolonged war spells global energy crisis and also political pressure within USA..

The idea of sending in special forces to secure the uranium seems futile..where is it..? Iran is the size of Spain, France and italy together..
Oh for fk sake, man! Global energy crisis? Really? No long lines for fuel over here! Just because speculators drive up the price of oil? ONLY 20% of the world’s oil passes through the strait. A little pain at the gas pump for a few months. Who gives a damn beside you? I’ve been to Norway. I doubt that you would be driving thousands of miles a week? Get a grip and try being a man, not a child. You’re commentary is worse than Trump’s outlandish comments!

Sure, just let Iran get nukes and keep funding proxies all over the Middle East and do nothing. I’m soooo sorry you’re paying more for fuel while we get rid of a scourge or at least pound them down so they can’t fund terror all over. Cry me a river, biatch!

The design and construction is funded by private donations so it doesn’t fundamentally matter what they cost.

Operations and maintenance are mostly converted by federal dollars through the national archives. So an overly complex design that has high operational cost would be burden on taxpayers.

How about NO MORE PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARIES! They are over rated, and too expensive for the general public to enjoy, especially with families. The Geo. Bush library in Dallas operates at a loss I am sure, despite costing a fortune to visit. Maybe they would get more business if they cut the price of admission. How many of such libraries do we need, anyway?

Just for comparison, unleaded gasoline here in July 2008 was $4.11US/gal and diesel $4.75US/gal. That's $6.24/gas and $7.21/diesel respectively in today's US dollars. I don't remember the reason fuel was so high at that time, but it was just a couple of months before the US housing collapse and subsequent Great Recession worldwide. I DO remember pulling a camper across the state and paying the $4.75/gal diesel for my truck. Should have filled it with used vegetable oil from fast food joints along the way. LOL

Welcome to AH! Do check the date of the first entry to the Politics thread, you are not quite up to date, lol.

As a lover of history who has visited 15 presidential libraries I disagree. I’ve learned something from every one and some of them are great.

We should be preserving our history it’s a small cost in the scheme of things.

So massively over budget and burden to taxpayer for his library…..At least he’s consistent

You think he’d pick up some of the construction cost with the massive oil fortune he inherited from his step father.

You have no idea how to open the Hormuz like your government...and you do not give a shit about the world outside the US..

Oil tankers came and went just fine through the straights until Trump started bombing Iran..

The fuel shortage will get worse..until the 20% missing is restored..

I really think you are just banging your head against a brick wall, its pointless to write anti-Trump posts here...as long as Trump says everything that happens is moving along according to his magnificent 4D-chess plan the Maga-crew is going to think the same regardless what is actually happening;)
