Politics

Folks, I am not some kind of Rhodes Scholar with political science degrees. Nope, prior enlisted US Marine with night school degrees and a lot of hard knocks learning. That stated, I am smart enough to know that the Wall Street Journal is the most or one of the most unbiased national publications one can read daily.

The WSJ is the only news source to which I pay a monthly subscription. If it only provided primarily right wing or left wing reporting, heck I can access those articles for free!
To each his own.

Looks like a good match. Crazy Liberal women like Beta males.

Yeah, I know there is at least one committed, establishment swamp status quo member here who might revel in the Marxist Street Journal, or what's become the establishment street swamp rag.
The MSJ is just a different version of the NYT, who's only value of use is lining the bottom of a monkey cage.
The MSJ wrote this article last year telling us MAGA folk that we should read Marx.
Of course you'll have to get thru the paywall to see it all. I wouldn't pay 2 cents for that roll of used toilet paper.

I know this whole editorial thing must be confusing for some.

The opinion piece you are pasting was written by an editorialist and does not remotely represent the views of the paper. Guest editorials are printed to offer alternative views. On the other hand, the article I posted was prepared by the editorial board of the WSJ representing the views of the journal which are solidly conservative and definitely not populist.

Even the very liberal NYT does the same thing by hosting opinion pieces by conservatives such as Ross Douthat or David French - neither of whom I assume would gain favorable reviews from a don't confuse me with alternative facts or opinions MAGA true believer.

"Rolling out a blow hard like Stephen Miller in the first five minutes following this second shooting to call Alex Pretti a "domestic terrorist" was the sort of knee jerk silliness..."

Well, in fairness, that's kinda Miller’s bread and butter, the only thing he's actually good at or capable of, IMHO. :p

I have experienced the privilege or punishment of drinking too many of those oil can size Fosters with some Aussie Navy He-Man woman haters. I swore Never again. They were professionals.

Since the editorial board prints it, I guess it all must be true....lol
The beautiful thing about us MAGA true believers, is that we aren't blinded by the establishment bullshit goggles.

DHS launching probe into woman who tried to purchase a firearm for the express purpose of shooting ICE agents.
Wasn’t the whole point of 2A for the population to be armed and stand up against their own government (checking federal power)? Seems like she’s exercising that right fully in the spirit of it.

That sounds like something the republicans should explore, if I understand it correctly the Supreme Court has a conservative majority at the moment and I assume that an interpretetion of the 14th amendment that says only documented citizens can count would probably not be controversial and also hard to overturn for any future democratic majority in the court.

At least it seems like it would be hard to make a case for counting non citizens for congressional seat allocation purposes. It does makes sense to count them for purpose of determining how to dimension the size of for example healthcare, education and daycare but not for voting purposes since I assume that non citizens regardless does not get to vote in the general election.

In Sweden they actually have a vote just by residence status even though they are not citizens, but luckily only in municipal and county elections, not in parlament elections. However they still have to be living here legally to vote in those elections, illegals does not have the rights stated above.
I think it's the same here. I'm fairly certain I voted in a municipal election in the past but as only a Canadian Permanent Resident I cannot vote in national elections. Similarly, I still vote in Montana elections (I'm always there during hunting season). Though entitled as a citizen, I do not cast ballots for Montana state and local offices because I don't have a residence there (though still own property). I only vote in the national elections. My citizenship and former service gives me that right legally and ethically.

Formerly it must have been an issue sorting who can legally vote here as a "landed immigrant" (what folks like me were labeled when I emigrated) and what they can vote for. The government really must have its hands full now with the tsunami of East Indian immigration into Canada. Or maybe they just let them vote? More likely the immigrants are not interested in voting for anything. That would be an interesting subject to analyze ... though unlikely to be analyzed. It would not be "politically correct" to imply our flood of immigrants are shirking their civil duty ... even though ethically they probably should be. :D

Dude.....you are, way, way, out in left field.

The constitution doesn't cover murderous intent.

That post was in jest

IF this story is real, they should have allowed the transaction to happen, notify the authorities and had a team shadowing her to try and catch her in the act. Then throw the book at her. I would assume claiming to buy a gun to kill agents, plus having said gun in the vicinity of agents would be enough to lock someone up.

Fed ‘rate check’ triggered a freefall in the U.S. dollar and investors fled into gold | Fortune https://fortune.com/2026/01/26/fed-rate-check-us-dollar-gold/
I think it is unfair to blame the Fed rate check for the sky falling. Other much more alarming events orchestrated by the Buffoon in Chief would seem to deserve more blame. I cannot see how anything the Fed could do would undo the mess Trump is making. Anytime it seems things are stabilizing, he carelessly throws a wrench in the works. Now we are watching the Republican party disintegrate (finally!) and that has got to be very unnerving for investors. Fortunately for me, one of the escape hatches investors are running to is the Canadian dollar.

America hating Democrats putting on a push to impeach Noem.
That dumb loudmouth bimbo was in way over her head from the get go. Shameful the Senate would have approved someone for that obviously delicate job who really isn't qualified to do anything beyond cleaning toilets in the Capitol building. Time for her to get under the bus ... one way or the other. Speaking of under the bus, I see Bovino has received orders to pack up. His career is over. If it comes to impeachment for Noem, and it should not, I expect more than a few Republican legislators would reluctantly approve. They need to be looking for their own damage control this close to midterms. And they are in the lifeboats ready to cast-off. Trump sacking that useless gal would go a ways to keeping them hanging on. The problem is Trump has surrounded himself with so many incompetent "advisors." Will ejecting Noem be enough to save the ship? Certainly, if she isn't ejected by Trump, I think the boats will be in the water.
