I guess you don't read the news much. Trump tried to make his grandstand military parade to himself fly during his FIRST administration. That was long before the anniversary of anything except his fat ego. Fortunately, COVID saved us that grandiose waste of money ... for a little while anyway.As a well read historian with a doctorate, I assume you know the parade was timed for the US Army's 250th birthday which dates to 14 June 1775 when the Continental Army was established by the Second Continental Congress (making it a year older than the US itself). The Army recognizes it every year with a ball in Washington and major headquarters locations. A parade had been in the planning stages well before Trump's election, though I am certain patriotic dems would have held a far more modest one - perhaps with some drag troops to add color.
