That sort of despicable behavior, among a host of other issues is why I won't vote for him again. If he is the nominee this time, I will stay home or be hunting. And yes, I fully realize that is a de facto democrat vote. I suspect that I am not alone. And yes, I am certain he has locked down 43% of the electorate and and a solid 150-160 electoral votes. The net effect of that math is pretty simple. I don't care who he succeeds in getting as a nominee.

I am very close to reaching the same conclusion @Red Leg. A few months ago I said I hoped for different but would support him if it was him. I am seriously rethinking that. I used to coach HS basketball and one of my mantras was that I would rather lose with dignity than win without. I personally think Trump has skittered over an edge I have no desire to follow. I think he is drunk on his own celebrity, and I am not convinced he's not somewhat mentally unbalanced, just in a very different way than Biden.

I believe what Redleg and TT are saying is true of many in the Republican Party right now.

Winning elections is never about the base voters. Neither side has enough hard core base voters to carry an election. It is always about getting votes from the middle that can go either way.

Trump is very good at appealing to his base and staying on the core agenda that they like to hear. The problem is, that strategy is not likely to draw over those swing voters.

If the Republican presidential campaign is focused on just keeping the pieces together, while the Democrats presidential campaign is organized around "just vote against Trump regardless of who runs as a Democrat", the election outcome has all the makings to be a miserable mess.

I’ll probably hold my nose and vote against the democrats if he is the nominee. However, that is likely a wasted effort as I don’t believe he can win. Let’s pray that he is not the nominee!
