Washingtonmuley Welcome to AH and thank you for your service! You and your lady are going to have a great time on your first trip to Africa! I’m certain you will go back again!
Best

Welcome aboard. Hunting Africa is unlike anything you've ever done before. Plan well to prevent any surprises. If you have any questions, ask and AH will answer. What kind and caliber rifles do you own? Do you reload?

welcome and have a great time

regards

Welcome to AH!

Glad to have you. Welcome.

Welcome to AH and Thank You for your Service.

Welcome from another WA guy. My guess is you are on the dry side, I am on the wet side. Where were you stationed in the CG? My late uncle was in the CG and ran rescue boats and saved lives out of Grays Harbor many years ago. You will love Africa.
I am from the wet side but grew up on the dry side of Washington.

The gun I would prefer to bring would be my .300 win mag. I do not reload.

A 300 Win Mag will work just fine. Just make sure it is loaded with a premium bullet. A cheap cup and core bullet might do the trick but why take the chance? The extra few bucks spent on quality ammo is good insurance.

Best of luck and enjoy the planning!

Thanks for joining! I am sure you will appreciate the board more & more over time. A great resource and folks are very willing to share info. If I may ever be of service, please feel free to reach out to me.
Best wishes on your 1st (of I hope many more) safari.

Welcome to AH Washingtonmuley! Lots of great people here!

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
