Major Khan

The Major, Kawshik Rahman, and the other former Indian residents of Bangladesh, wrote stories about their time hunting in India. This infuriated many Indian anti hunters who would troll them on here. Allegedly the Indian government even tried to prosecute one of our friends, costing him a great deal of money in the courts to clear his name.
For that reason, they have stopped their participation on Africa Hunting.

That is very sad indeed. I'm not sure how war stories from hunting adventures in days gone past would still necessitate persecution.

I do hope we will hear of them again, and I hope they and their families are doing well.

Those Indian anti hunters will deserve every bit of what's coming to them when their Maker will judge them, for harassing these upstanding gentlemen.

The very definition of censorship.

That is a real shame, I really enjoyed their contributions to the forum. If they happen to come across this thread, I hope they know they are missed.

I had feared the worst about them after they disappeared. Now I'm just pissed at the stupidity that caused them to leave. I hope they're able to get into contact with us again and continue writing and sharing what they can.

Sounds like India’s version of the current US DOJ.

Disturbing. The Major is a good man and I wish him well.

As much as we hope, if it caused me a bunch of money and grief, not being compensated on top of that....no way I would expose myself again. It's just not in their or their families best interests. It's a screwed up world we live in.

+1 on the screwed up world. I too wish them well. Enjoyed the stories of days long gone.

That is just f*#king disgraceful! These men are all gentlemen and a huge credit to this forum, and I for one am honoured and proud to have been associated with them. I am sorry and bitterly disappointed that they had to experience attacks on their persons.

I echo the positive messages of support on this thread. I thoroughly enjoyed their contributions and would love to see them back. These gentlemen have the last direct experience, knowledge and memories of Indian hunting, which will never be seen again. It is a privilege for us to be able to share in this.

I wonder if there is a way of having a members-only section which has an entrance requirement of a year of membership or x number of posts to sift out the antis and trolls? I know it sounds a bit exclusive and elitist but it might be a practical option?

I reached out to Major Khan through a private message a while back, and didn't hear back from him. Before reading this, I thought that maybe COVID was to blame, but I guess I was wrong. I echo what everyone above have said, and hopefully they'll be back.

There's certainly a way of doing it. I know other forums have similar sections requiring, as an example, that members be verified as military veterans. One had a rule that you couldn't post in the Sell/Buy section without having an account X months old and with Y number of posts. Your post history was visible to the mods/admins, so if you tried to pad it with troll stuff or whatever, they'd know.

But there would be ways around that. Old accounts getting hacked or inactive ones who fit the account-age restriction. Post counts can be padded. It might be more work than Jerome and the rest want to deal with, or might run too close to "exclusive and elitist" as you considered.

That's just not right and it really stinks. Their stories were riveting and almost legendary. The things they wrote demonstrated the need for organized hunting and the consequences of it's disappearance in that part of the world. Those responsible are apparently not inclined to be reminded of their collective failure after cowardly giving in to the masses.

What a loss. :(

I'm not sure it would help. People have an agenda, as sad as it maybe. Things you post today have the ability to cause you problems years from now. Your suggestions would make it harder, not fool proof. This world has gone crazy, people care more about animals than humans. Common sense is no longer common.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
