After gotten re-bitten by the shooting/hunting/collecting/researching bugs I joined after reading the forums for a few months now.
Grew up in a family of mostly collectors, and I am fortunate to have inherited a couple classic British sporting rifles from my father who was spoke most highly of George Caswell and Steve Barnett. Highlights of my collection are a Rigby in .275 Rigby from 1924, a Jeffery in .333 Jeffery, and a Winchester model 70 super grade in 458 (love shoothing her).
Took the Rigby to the range this past weekend and got hooked again. Also took my 8 year old daughter out for herfirst time with a Savage Rascal.
Sent many rounds down range with a Whitworth 375H&H growing up and regret selling it (graduate school took precedence at the time)
Have been debating on trading the Jeffery for another from the period in 375H&H since the 333 is proving to be a true exercise in patience in finding reloading supplies and data. I’ve got 15 rounds from Kynoch but don’t want to spend then until I can reload more.
Looking forward to the education from the group!

Welcome! Sounds like you have a mighty fine grouping of rifles and would love to see a few pictures of them as "rifle porn" is most welcomed around here.

Took some pics this evening

Giday GorgonStare. Welcome to the A H forums.

Hello GorgonStare AKA Daniel Hall,

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Also, I salute you and the fellow collectors in your family.
It is puzzling why everyone is not drawn toward properly made firearms of all sorts.
But, it is especially puzzling why everyone is not drawn toward properly made hunting rifles, among the ‘98 Mauser, single shot and double barrel variety.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog AKA Paul Ard.

I can see why you'd get hooked again after seeing that Rigby.
Welcome to AH.

Welcome Gorgonstare, do you have any plans to hunt with those gorgeous rifles?

Welcome to AH Daniel! Glad you found us.

Of course a plains game hunt in Africa is in the 3 year plan. Its been far too long (20+ years) since I've hunted anything that doesn't fly, so I'll be doing local deer hunts to get my skills back to where they should be before making the trek overseas.

Five year plan is to go up against black death in RSA; would love to have a 500 Jeffery for that hunt.

I'd love to squeeze in a Scotland/NewZealand stag hunt somewhere in there too.

Appreciate all the welcome messages!

Welcome to AH, this place is full of enablers! Let us know if you need any assistance with the rifle import permits, we would be glad to assist you with that.

Beautiful stuff! IMHO the .333 Jeffery cartridge is probably THE sexiest looking there is. Would love to own a rifle in that calibre. But being a lefty, there probably aren't any rifles out there. And to have one custom built... are there even 333 barrels to be found?

And I totally understand the difficulty in finding components. Bullets could probably be made by casting your own, or swaging down .338s. Unless someone is still making them. Woodleigh isn't back in business yet AFAIK. Hawk, maybe?

But where do you find brass? Or could you form them out of 404 brass?

WOW those are nice rifles! Welcome. I just moved to Alabama a couple of weeks ago...still trying to figure out the local hunting! It seems very different than it was out west where I've been the last decade or so.
