Hello everyone! This site was recommended to me and I’ve been lurking and reading for a bit. Finally decided to say hello! I got my first whitetail deer last year and since then I’ve had the itch. Then, I had the opportunity to take a hog with my best friend for my birthday this year.
I’ve “bird dogged” a couple guided hunts with friends, I’ve found it’s enjoyable as just an observer too!

To me, it’s about grounding myself and being closer to the process of nature. Building my bond to Earth and my hunting buddies. Looking forward to the conversation and education from this forum! Nice to meet you all!

Welcome and glad to see a new hunter!

:S Welcome:

Welcome! Certainly glad to have you here with the rest of us!

What part of PA are you from?

Good day! Welcome to AH!

Potter County "stumpjumper" here. Escaped for a life of adventure almost 50 years ago but my soul often drifts back to my adolesence as a woodchuck hunting farmboy.

This is me in northernmost Potter County on leave from the Marines. The summer of 1988 with a M98 .22-250 with 15x Unertl.

Oh boy! Now you have gone and done it!

It may not be too late, you might be able to save yourself. The rest of us are in too deep, but you should know, this is likely your last chance! You really only have two choices, walk away, make a Clean Break (cold Turkey is best). Don’t look back, and pretend everything never happened. It’s either that, or just committ, give in fully to the Sweet Addiction.

You know which way we all went, some of us may wish that someone warned them yard ago, but it is much too late for us, you however CAN still save yourself.

If you choose the Dark Side, please know:
-You WILL spend an inappropriate amount of time on this Website, and
watching Videos, and Reading (about all things Hunting).
-You WILL spend what your wife and family think is an inordinate amount of
time thinking about, researching, and planning hunting trips.
-You DO NOT have enough firearms!
-Your vacation time will be hoarded and mostly accounted for going
forward.
-You are now required to always have a truck, for the rest of your natural
life!
-Your Children, and maybe even your Significant Other may catch this disease from you, (this is a Mixed Blessing).
-Your friends will heretofore fall into 2 categories, Hunting Buddies, and people you used to hang out with.
-You may as well go ahead and Quit golf right now!

You have been Warned!

Welcome aboard and it's great to have a new hunter.

Welcome - to the rabbit hole (hunting and the AH community).

I joined here about 16 years ago to get information on my "once in a lifetime" and "only" African safari.

Then from the shadows someone whispered "no one goes to Africa just once." But I was going to be different - only going once. That was 22 African safari's ago. ACE (in CT) has it about right - whatever you did before, its different now.

Good luck, god speed, and welcome.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
