Gun or caliber you’ve never owned but always wanted?

A LH stainless/fiberglass 280AI.

A Ruger RSM 375 H&H in left hand (I can dream right! Lol)

An original Westley Richard's 318, but left hand (Another dream!!)

I've got a hankering for a couple Winchester 1895's, one in 30-40 Krag, the other in 405.

I’d love one in .405.

I’ve managed to round up most of the others that I really wanted: Springfield 1903, Mauser in 7x57, M1 carbine, even the little AR7 survival rifle. But lately I’ve been coveting something nice in .375 H&H ...

A Rigby rising bite double rifle, from the 1920s or 30's, in either 470 or 500 NE.

I've always wanted a .375 H&H, but just can't justify it with myself. Would like it in a Winchester, CZ or Sako. Sigh.

I'm not a shotgun guy, but I've always wanted a Winchester 1897. I just love the look of them.

A Left-Handed Winchester M70.

A 1874 Sharps (reprodution). This may happen soon.

I'd like a nice svelte German kipplauf - single shot stalking rifle, in 7x64R. Stocked to fit me with upgraded wood, well done game scene engraving, and a good German scope to match. Perhaps a Merkel, or Krieghoff or a Blaser. In a fitted carry case. One can dream.

Found one yesterday on Ralf Martinis website. Blaser K95 in 7x65r with S&B scope and dies and brass in new condition for less than half price of new. Offered to purchase but it was sold just hours before. Humph!

I would have to say (top of my list) a Remington 700 in 400Whelen. Don't know why, I guess because the 35 impressed the crap out of me.

Last time I hunted in Canada I took a Brno 602 .375H&H. It's not a bad round for hunting your larger species in the woods. My profile picture was taken there, can't remember the name of the place we were at but I enjoyed it a lot. I shot a whitetail with it on a hunt in Grande Cache.

Once they'd finished laughing at my non resident alien status the guys in your gun stores then questioned my need for such a round. I just said I didn't want to be eaten by a bear. They called me a crazy Englishman before agreeing that it would probably be a good round for that should I find myself needing it! Ammo was available though. Several places stocked it, and a choice of makes too. You should buy one if you want one. It's small enough to still be used as a sensible deer round and I believe the trajectory is similar to a .30-06. It would make a good elk round, although when I went the tags for those as a non resident were crazy money!

My older brother is a big fan of the quarter bore. This would be his pick as well.

The .257 is my favorite by far. Have taken everything from P-Dogs to a Bull Elk with the 100 TTSX

A fine O/U combination gun with a .22/28 gauge. Nice wood and decent triggers. It does not exist.

Good grief...can I only pick one? That would stress me out totally...so:
  1. .22 Magnum. I have numerous .22's, .22 magnum would be a little more oomph. And I always need more oomph. ;)
  2. 25-06. I have several 30-06's so why not a 25-06? It's flatter shooting than the 30.06 and would also be good on varmints.
  3. .270. Flatter shooting than my .308's and 30-06's. Plus a lot of my friends have .270's and I want one too.
  4. 338 Lapua Magnum. All the cool sniper-type guys have one so it appeals to the mall ninja in me. Plus a guy had one on a recent Elk hunt and I saw what it could do at 800 yards!
  5. 416 Remington Magnum. It's bigger than my Blaser R8 .375 H&H Magnum and Blaser makes a .416 barrel so why not. Plus it has more oomph than the .375. And I always need more oomph. Wait I already said that. Sorry.

Mannlicher Schoenauer in 10.75X68, you say? No problem. All you'll need is a time machine, a Stoeger catalog, and $175 in 1939 era USD:
