Effective range for a .375 H & H

it would be effective on a kudu bull at 300 yds.
the cartridge is not marginal, and a well zeroed rifle would be capable of good hits in the hands of a good shot.
it would however me more emphatic at 100 yds.
the big problem starts from 300 and out.
bruce.

My Win 70 with Barnes 235gr TSX is dead on out to 300 yds sighted 2" high at 100 yds. I have shot steel at FTW Ranch out to 700 yds with a spotter. That's a real rainbow trajectory and not something I would try elsewhere. I try to keep all my shots at 300 or less with all calibers in the field.
Respectfully the BC on the 235's is terrible. I submit that with the 300 grain Nosler Accubond you've have more fun. There are even better bullets than that and if I were shooting that far I'd be using them.

I’ve never used anything other than 300gr bullets in my dads 375 and honestly don’t think I ever will. I took a hartebeest at 325yards off the sticks with his 375 using Hornady 300gr BTSP hand loads at 2600FPS via RL15 and the hartebeest dropped in his tracks. We’ve always been heavy for caliber guys and that personally solidified it all the more. I have read that the 300gr Hornady BTSP were not reliable but I haven’t had an issue yet. I wish they still made them. I took a blue wildebeest at 80yds with the same load and it was a clean through and through with him only running 40yds before dropping.

Your 350g Woodleighs will do just fine at 300 yards. I shoot them as well for elk in Colorado. Sight them in 3" high at 100 yards, they're dead on at 25 yards and at 200 yards. 12" low at 300, 24" low at 350 yards and 36" low at 400 yards still packing over 2000 ft lbs of energy. Those Woodleighs will open up at 400 yards and penetrate an elk lengthwise at 25 yards.
Dang!!!!

260 grain nosler partitions opened up nicely for me at 500 yards in a ream of paper.

I had a long conversation with the late John Nosler in 1991. I had just bought ten boxes of 300 grain partition bullets which had come back on the market around 1990 after a long absence and many requests from hunters, and suggested an intermediate weight. John mentioned that there were already several 270s on the market. I suggested a 260 grain bullet, worked out the sectional density of these bullets over the phone with him and soon after the 260 grain came on the market.

I only shot the 260 grains partition in my own design improved 375 H&H. Chronographed at 3050 fps. A bit hot but superbly accurate load. Their ballistic coefficient is a bit on the lower end. The other offerings such as the E-tip and Accubond offer substantially superior BCs.

Nosler is truly an excellent company, turning out outstanding products and listening to their customers which speaks volumes. For that very reason, they're always at the forefront with quality offerings.

I'm not paid or rewarded in any way to promote their products. I didn't receive a box of 260s in exchange for a good suggestion nor did I receive any promotional material. I just used their products in many different calibers very successfully over the years.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
