300 gr. A-frame I took out of a wildibeast I shot at 238 yards in the shoulder. It was laying just under skin on opposite side. Only bullet I recovered on recent hunt.

180 gr Nosler Accubond @2980 f/s from a 300 Win Mag. Cape Eland bull. Broadside shot at 187 meters. Both lungs and heart. Bullet found trapped under the skin

My profile pic is of a recovered PRVI Partisan 208-grain bullet in 8x56R and part of its jacket, shot from my ancient straight-pull Steyr Mannlicher 95/30 carbine. The bullet passed through the chest cavities of two 90-pound hogs. It was recovered under the hide on the far side of the second hog. They were unlucky enough to line up next to each other, so I said why not.

My PH exclaimed “I freaking love that rifle and that bullet!” after the fourth one-shot, quick kill. Very good accuracy, and retain a lot of energy down range due to the higher ballistic coefficient.

I recently took this 29" class Waterbuck in southern Zimbabwe with my 300 Win Mag using Federal Premium 180 gr Trophy Bonded Tip factory ammo. I was on the other side of the reservoir in the background when I made the shot.

The bullet entered the left side ribcage just behind the shoulder. Bullet clipped both lungs and tore a section out of the heart ventricles. It passed through ribs on right side and stopped in the skin on the right side. Pretty much a textbook shot. He ran about 40 yards through boulders and a small wash. Piled up where pic was taken.

(Unsure about rib bone impacts.)

Kudu taken at about 70 yards. Quartering away shot. Bullet entered rear of left ribcage in lower 1/3 section. Bullet passed into chest cavity after clipping the hepatic artery/vein (liver shot) and possibly the aorta. Bullet exited the right ribcage and came to rest just behind the right shoulder under the skin. A second insurance shot was placed in the upper left shoulder. It passed through. Kudu moved maybe 20-30 yards after first shot.

This Impala was taken at around 90 yrds straight on chest shot right of center. Bullet passed through body and was hung up in the skin near rear of hind quarter. Impala did a sideways flip and went about 30 yards.

I took a Blue Wildebeest at around 80 yards with a straight on chest shot as well. The bullet went into the chest cavity and careened at a steep angle up exiting above the shoulders. He ran some 50 yards in thick brush as we chased. Piled up DOA. That was a heart-pounder!

I just picked up a box of these to load up and test in my 300 WM. This is very encouraging!

Thanks! Every now and again even a blind squirrel finds a nut.
My brother and me grew up hand loading shotgun, pistol, and rifle ammo but due to distance issues we weren't able to settle on a load for these before our safari. My particular rifle, a Colt Light Rifle, seemed to like around 79 grains of H1000. These are quite long so you may find you're loads are slightly compressed with so much of the bullet protruding into the casing.
These bullets are TOUGH and keeping them going fast is likely a good idea. I took a Bushbuck at 296 yards (my furthest shot to date) and the bullet punched right through both hind quarters. I don't know how much it expanded or whether or not the decrease in velocity, some 500 fps, was a contributing factor in the amount of expansion.

I'm interested to hear what load you develop if you care to share.

I'll update you as soon as I start getting data. Right now all my range time is devoted to teaching my granddaughter to shoot. I told her if she learns well and moves up to a centerfire in 2020, I’ll take her to Africa. She’s excited! Me too!

Used a .338 RUM with 225 gr Swift A-Frames on a black wildebeest, red hartebeest, blesbok, eland, two gemsbok and a zebra. Attached is a photo of the recovered bullets. Also used a .30/06 with 180 gr Barnes TSX. With the '06 took two springbok, gemsbok, zebra and a steenbok. No bullets recovered as all made exit.

This is the bullet I am sold on..I will use on next trip to Namibia....My .300 Win likes it too ! Perfect mushroom and can't come apart.

Meigsbucks, interesting how the same bullet going through the Eland doesn’t appear to have expanded as much at half the distance?
