Short answer, because I liked the design of the cartridge and wanted to build a one-off custom. I could just buy a ruger number one in .450 NE but I wanted a project and a challenge. I may take it out for elk season this year if I get a tag.
It is also nice to have a true neck. Easier to achieve consistent/proper neck tension and I find it generally easier to get consistent crimps, vs a straightwall.

It is handy, but the one in my photo I had not crimped yet. I have since crimped them and they shoot great, just need to get the correct height rear sight.

Got any pictures of the 450 no2?

My ugly duckling. 26 inch barrel, solid quarter rib, bead-blasted stainless.

Dude, that is totally awesome! What a rig
Thank you, she's a blast to shoot but I need to get the proper site height dialed in, shooting pretty low right now. Very mild recoil at 2150 with 480 gr CEB solids, healthy push but doesn't thump me for a 9ish lb rifle.

@ET1775, that rifle would look real nice with some pretty wood.

One step ahead/or behind. I have the wood, I just don't have the expertise to make a stock myself, nor do I know which expert I should hire for the task or the budget currently to do so. Too many irons in the fire as they say.

@ET1775 You might consider reaching out to tree bone carving to take the blanks from wood to a stock set. That set will require fitting by a knowledgeable smith.

Here is an example of a set I got from them (Using their wood) for a 458 WM i have.

Thanks Dave, I have discussed with Treebone, just haven't gotten to that point in the project yet.

My Heym 577 NE ways 13 1/2 pounds and it’s not terrible to carry but like many I rotate between hands and shoulders as I carry it. Funny enough most PH’s that I work with have a tracker carry their rifle until the moment of truth.

13.5lb is quite light for a 577 NE! How many rounds can be fired in a sitting before there is lasting effects?

I've been considering having a 2-strap sling made for my 8-bore with quick detach latches. My idea is a setup that will allow the gun to be worn like a backpack, but in the moment of need can be easily removed from the gun.

In the field, I would have a gun bearer carry my 8-bore and I would carry my 416. Once a suitable animal is discovered, if the opportunity arises, I would exchange guns with the bearer. This is the same method of hunting originally used in the 19th and early 20th century.

I made a blood pact with my .458 WM, with a full power 450 TSX load... first shot off a low picnic table... should have known better, but "nope."

.375 is a big game caliber and adequate for ALL DG game. That said, 404J, 416 Rem Mag/Rigby, 450 Ribby, the .700 Nitro Express, .600 Nitro Express, the .500s and .577s, etc....are big game Must Haves ( I don't like to use the work "want" Sounds like you don't need them). Get 'em all, one by one.

We've all done it! I was tagged by my buddies 505 Gibbs. Thankfully mine didn't cut as deep.
