Short answer, because I liked the design of the cartridge and wanted to build a one-off custom. I could just buy a ruger number one in .450 NE but I wanted a project and a challenge. I may take it out for elk season this year if I get a tag.
It is also nice to have a true neck. Easier to achieve consistent/proper neck tension and I find it generally easier to get consistent crimps, vs a straightwall.

It is handy, but the one in my photo I had not crimped yet. I have since crimped them and they shoot great, just need to get the correct height rear sight.

Got any pictures of the 450 no2?

My ugly duckling. 26 inch barrel, solid quarter rib, bead-blasted stainless.

Dude, that is totally awesome! What a rig
Thank you, she's a blast to shoot but I need to get the proper site height dialed in, shooting pretty low right now. Very mild recoil at 2150 with 480 gr CEB solids, healthy push but doesn't thump me for a 9ish lb rifle.

@ET1775, that rifle would look real nice with some pretty wood.
One step ahead/or behind. I have the wood, I just don't have the expertise to make a stock myself, nor do I know which expert I should hire for the task or the budget currently to do so. Too many irons in the fire as they say.
