Oh if they were only as tasty as Axis, Nilgai, and other such exotics. They do make a nice trophy.
I could have shot them when they first came available in the Palo Duro canyon, but my wife has asthma and we already had rooms full of European skulls and such and no way a hairy such beast could be in our house.

I ate an aoudad. They are fairly mild meat but mine was tough. A pressure cooker and hamburger grinder did a good job on him.

Aoudad are very good if properly cared for in the field. Yes an old ram will be a little tough but it will be about the same as a old deer or elk as far as the tenderness goes. We love them.

Aoudad taste depends a lot on what they eat…. lol f they are in a desert/rock climate they will taste as such. Getting native browse, corn, protein…. Much like whitetail.

Sheep in general: young ones lamb chops, old one’s chewy mutton

We have 2 more on the stand and 8 more to mount still from last season including a full body!

Gizmo, some fine work there, well done. (y)

Can I be so rude to ask; are those McKenzie wall peds? I have my own sheep to mount here in Australia and was looking at their forms with the extended chaps, and yours look great.

Cheers
Tim

It’s not rude at all. Yes they are McKenzie Mannikins. We have to modify the heads on them often to fit our large headed sheep here. If your sheep has a great big wide head expect to have to v cut and widen it to fit. The eye sockets can be off sometimes too and I’ve had to move them up before as well.

Thanks mate appreciate that.
Mine is a South African sheep and measurements seem small to medium, so I'd say it'll fit up OK.
Cheers and keep up the good work.

They make great Gyro meat and a great looking mount.

Scheming to get me one next fall at Gizmo's. Started saving my pennies.

Hi Marcus
I'll 2nd limcroma! Booked 2nd trip at SCI last week. Those guys are great. Trying to get hooked up with Peter when he gets to the states if I can break away.

What sling studs do those swivels fit ? They look to be quite a bit wider than the standard modern swivels. They may be just what I need for my Remington 30 Express wide swivel studs. Can you measure the pin diameter ?
