Anyone flying to Anchorage, Alaska anytime soon?

Stand by for soap box:

I am of the theory that people that do not live in Alaska should not take advantage of these kinds of situations.

Ammunition is a challenge to ship anywhere, in Alaska it must be trucked from the lower 48 or take on a ship.

If you are in town and you buy a rifle, then go hard.

I personally think it is bad form.

I have lived in Barrow, Sitka, Fairbanks and Anchorage.

Every gun shop has treasures, but the challenge in getting them there to me, means they should be reserved for those that need them.

450 Dakota is probably a rare enough cat that there are not more than a few rifles in Alaska so chambered. But still.
In theory I agree with you, but...wildwillalaska said they looked like they have been there forever, and are coated in dust. So I'm thinking that if someone was going to buy them, they would have sometime in the past 10-15 years. I'd have bought them myself if I was there this year, but it looks like next fall is my time to go up there.

If it makes a difference, I was going to offer to bring up ammo for anyone in the area when I go up there. If there's anything that folks need but cant get easily, I'm up for muling it up there next year. :)

Bullets and brass are always fairly easy to get. Primers and powder never are.

Canadians never really gave you hell when you drove up in the past, but I think that is getting more challenging.

Sportsman's, Cabelas/Bass Pro, and all the little local guys have like you speak of some oddballs on the shelves for years, then nothing for ages.

The ammo arrived safely today, a big thanks to all involved, quite the journey.

Excellent. How many boxes were you able to secure? Was about to PM you about the brass that popposed up in the classifieds, but another gent jumped up and took it while I was searching for your past message to reply to.

Was able to get all 3, for a steal. Yeah, i'm kicking myself on the dakota brass. I Was out camping with the scouts and then had my sons soccer game afterward, it sold very quickly. But I did just pick up some more brass from someone on gunbroker. So it all works how. How serendipitous that it all happened around the same time. One could go for years and see nothing, then multiple sightings all at once!

The guys by me on the plane had their moose meat taken they took on hunt except 100 pounds .They limit bags to 50 pounds also so that limits your stuff how well i know.
yeah,

they should have sent it air cargo. airlines are not gonna send 400# of moose meat as checked baggage. i have shipped lots of meat from anchorage to the lower 48, air cargo is the way. they even freeze it for you.

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
