In theory I agree with you, but...wildwillalaska said they looked like they have been there forever, and are coated in dust. So I'm thinking that if someone was going to buy them, they would have sometime in the past 10-15 years. I'd have bought them myself if I was there this year, but it looks like next fall is my time to go up there.Stand by for soap box:
I am of the theory that people that do not live in Alaska should not take advantage of these kinds of situations.
Ammunition is a challenge to ship anywhere, in Alaska it must be trucked from the lower 48 or take on a ship.
If you are in town and you buy a rifle, then go hard.
I personally think it is bad form.
I have lived in Barrow, Sitka, Fairbanks and Anchorage.
Every gun shop has treasures, but the challenge in getting them there to me, means they should be reserved for those that need them.
450 Dakota is probably a rare enough cat that there are not more than a few rifles in Alaska so chambered. But still.
If it makes a difference, I was going to offer to bring up ammo for anyone in the area when I go up there. If there's anything that folks need but cant get easily, I'm up for muling it up there next year.
