Africa Sayings

“Hold thumbs” as we would say keep your fingers crossed.
“Drink your pills” we would say take your pills.
My favorite has already been mentioned “We’ll make a plan”
Many many more that I can’t think of now but Africa certainly has its charms.

"Its not far" ..... then you end up trekking for another day or so!!! :ROFLMAO:
Agree on this one. Our trackers in Caprivi were notorious for telling us it’s not far meaning we might make it there by dark!

@phillip Glass, "We'll make a plan"! Heard that one a LOT! :D

“Be careful what you ask for. This is Africa, not Wisconsin”.

John Sharp to me, when I said I didn’t like hunting in warm weather, but rather preferred cool/cold temps and clouds.

On I like was my PH on a Giraffe hunt.

"There are three rules for a Giraffe hunt. 1. Shoot it near a road. 2. Keep shooting until it goes down. 3. Make sure it goes down near a road."

The first shot was a fata shot but he ran off. I manage a spine shot as it ran off and it dropped in it's tracks in a pan at the end of a road. The recovery team was elated.

My PH said jump out and kill the Giraffe, we'll keep driving and he will watch us, keep shooting till its down, it worked like a charm!!

When asking a question, you might get the following answer “Ja, well, no, fine”

When the elephants dance, the grass is crushed. Supposedly an old Swahili saying.

Not Africa-related but...
One time I asked a hunting buddy, “What do you think”?
His Reply, ”Well I think it would take a great big hog to weigh a ton and, a one-hundred pound sack of flour would make one heck of a biscuit...What do you think”?

Shala zee. Local for chill, as in relax man.

Shat on from a dizzy height

Thamalakane two-step

muti for the babbalas

good morning, good morning

in rural Kenya when you are white and drive by little kids...”mzuuunnnguuuuu”

"Tadza", said quietly amongst the trackers when you mess a shot. Meaning 'cock up'
