Hello Guys from down in NZ.

I see a lot of knowledgeable folk here in some of the calibres I shoot (particularly 9.3x62 and 7x64) so would like to tap a bit of the collective wisdom.

It's not on my current horizon to hunt in Africa as I have more than sufficient opportunities down here (which I'm willing to share with folks who care to visit) but one day maybe !

Cheers Foster

PS if you plan to visit Southern NZ do please feel free to PM me so I can pass on some of the hospitality other folk have extended to me in the past.

Welcome to AH.

Foster, welcome to AH.

The south island is in my plans someday. It will be a few years. We will have to talk then. If you have any questions about Africa just ask. There are some people on this forum with a lot of knowledge and they are happy to help.

Welcome to AH, Foster

Welcome Foster! Someday I plan to visit NZ. It's been awhile but I love fishing for trout, flyfishing of course. And being a fan of the Lord of the Rings movies, I've made it a bucket list item to see your beautiful country.

Thanks Guys

I'm at the southern end of the South Is, within a two hour drive we have Red, Fallow and Whitetail deer, Chamois, and of course the Wapiti herd of Fiordland. Another hour will get me into Tahr country.

Cheers

Hi, Foster, and welcome to AH. I think you will find a lot of knowledge on the site regarding your calibers.
Don't tell me you live in Central Otago? By your description that could well be. I used to live in Alexandra for 6 1/2 years before I moved to Oz, and I still go back regularly (seeing the stupid Aussie gun laws, I sometimes wonder why the hell I ever left...). Loved the hunting there! And no snakes or spiders...

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.
