3 Year Plan

2021 21 day July Family safari with Jamy Traut safaris PH Louw Lotter. Hippo and PG. this was delayed from 2020.

Fall 2021: idaho Elk, Montana elk/antelope/deer.
Cancelled 2020 events that may happen include the UK and Japan. If we go to Puerto Rico again for the Xmas holidays I want to hunt iguana.

2022?? The Mrs. lives to travel. She is coming around to the idea of dual purpose trips with some hunting. I’m hoping to hunt in the UK somewhere, as I’m sure we will be there. Assuming she enjoys the 2021 Safari, my chances of some type of repeat are good.
It is fun to reflect on what I thought would happen and what actually did.
2021: we completed the postponed family safari, although it was 28 total days. My vegetarian daughter became a hunter!
Fall 2021: yes on elk, deer and antelope. Fishing in the Bahamas.
2022: deer and antelope completed. No luck on elk this year. But, big success on getting a bunch of teen boys (and my beekeeper buddy!) out for their first animals (and Felipe and deer) in Montana.
Next: deer hunting in England over Xmas break, December 15th I fly over to visit my daughter and hunt with her.
2023: June: hippo for above mentioned daughter.
2024: my son will have graduated, that spring, so who knows what kind of flexibility my spouse will allow.

PS: my good friend once remarked that when he went on a hunting trip, he would return to his house and find his wife had bought a new piece of furniture (to balance out the discretionary spending for each spouse.) I find that accurate, so I work and save accordingly.

I hope to draw a Mt. Goat tag in Alaska for 2023, if I do, that will be my 2023 trip. If I don’t draw I’ll be watching out for a late season deal in Africa.
2024- I’m looking to try and get a buffalo hunt scheduled in SA. I’ve been in contact with a couple of outfitters from the forum here. I plan on being at SCI in February and looking there as well and hope to have something booked by March of 2023.
2025 or 2026 I plan to be back in the Caprivi with the folks I hunted with this year for buff and hippo and maybe even a non-trophy elephant.
Also, if I’m lucky with the western state draws then I’ll be adding trips for whatever I get drawn for.
It’s always fun and exciting trying to get a plan put together for an adventure.

3 Year Plan if all goes well

2021- Bos en Dal Safari 21 day hunt. Lioness, Cape Buff Bull and Cow. Plains game and bird hunts

2022- Bos en Dal. 10-12 days Croc and Hippo

2023- To far away to decide but most likely back to Bos en Dal for something

Updating
2021 did exactly that
2022. Was way bigger. 21 days. 2 Buffalo and 6 plains game. With some monster trophy’s

2023 taking a couple friends to Bos en Dal for there first Africa Safari. 14 days.
I am just cull hunting and looking for missing Bushbuck I need.

2024 60th birthday hunt back at Bos en Dal. Is the plan.

2025 and beyond I have no plans made. Just hope to be alive.

Now that all of you have turned me into an African addict lol! Here is my three year plan...what is yours?
1. July 2021 first Buffalo hunt with Tsala 40+ opportunity
2. July 2022 just booked for second hunt with Game 4 Africa for second buffalo, kudu and first water buck
3. I will hunt with Tsala again for lion and elephant not booked yet but this is my plan

I have no idea what comes after the above...how about you?
How time flys my friends! Here is my update to my 3 year plan…what’s yours?
My quest to obtain the Big 5 not interested in the Dangerous 7
2023 Zim for second buff and first elephant
2023 SA lion
2024 SA with my son for PG
2025 not sure yet but with an AH member for a leopard…we are in deep search now

after the above if successful only Rhino will remain God willing

I’m flying to Cameroon on Saturday. The final hunt of my original 3 year plan. Covid delayed everything but didn’t stop the hunts.

What are you going after? Looking forward to your report and pictures. (y)

@Rare Breed and @PARA45 I’m going lord derby eland. The licensing is a bit odd. I’m hoping to get eland, roan, bushbuck, waterbuck, kob, hartebeest, warthog, reedbuck. I can swap buffalo for roan if I choose but can’t take both. Oribi, red flank duiker, western bush duiker are available as well but don’t particularly interest me. Slightly concerned about travel to and from country with firearm and cash. It’s sounding more and more potentially frustrating each day that gets closer.
I’m also taking quite a bit of fishing gear. I’ve talked to my PH a little but not in a lot of detail other than what lures to bring. If I could catch a nice tiger or Nile perch I’d be really happy.

Outstanding, happy for you! Good luck sir. Like I said earlier, looking forward for your report and pictures. (y)

Hello 375, I am hearing from several people that getting rifles into Cameroon has become tremendously complicated. I was told that nearly every client is using camp rifles with Faro West.

Good luck brother! Kill a big one and stay safe!

2023 Yukon & Tanzania
2024 South Africa rhino?

2023 Update:
-- Red stag and 3 days of dove hunting in Argentina in April.
-- Trophy elephant bull at Kazuma Forestry Area, Zimbabwe. Might add buffalo if permit available later on.
Tanks, I’m researching the Kazuma Forestry area also. What outfitter/s are currently hunting there? Thanks!

2022: South Africa, Namibia, NM Elk (draw)

2023: South Africa, we’ll see what tags I draw stateside
2024: Alaska Moose (if I draw), late season deal possibly for Elephant or Leopard (if not), plus other lower 48 draw tags
2025: Same as 2024, maybe Greenland Caribou/Muskox

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
