Agreed, I always have a pair of foam plugs attached to either my hat or my shirt, via lanyard.
 
In the Alaskan bush a short barrel could be a life saver.
I have lived in Alaska for a tic over 41 years now and I respectfully disagree.
 
I prefer short fat barrels… for anywhere
Just feel better and gun balance usually a lot better

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?
