Professional Hunter gored by Gemsbok

Speedy recovery and lots of prayers.

I know a hunter loaded a dead warthog or bushpig on a bakkie. As the hind part was in the bakkie he swung the head over to fit in the back. The head rolled back and down and one of the tusks gouched his leg and cut a 5 cm long and 2 cm deep cut in his leg. So even a dead animal can be dangerous

Praying for a full and swift recovery!!

Sad to hear that and hope he makes a good recovery.

We should never disregard the possible danger of "plainsgame", they can kill us as dead as "dangerous game", specially Oryx, Sable and Bushbuck.

I hope he has a full & speedy recovery !

As others have said a lot of animals are dangerous the Oryx's/Sable & Bushbucks more so still.

I was with my tracker after a wounded Gemsbok Bull & suddenly he grabbed me & we went to one side as the Bull had backed down a Warthog hole with his horns layed back right in front of us, a scary close call as he was tracking while I look ahead for the animal never thinking to look at ground level, I quickly shot him in the neck as he exploded out of the hole in front of us !

Here is the latest:

Marco is currently still in hospital in ICU. He was doing really good and was on his way to general ward when a blood clot went through his lung. He was taken back to theater for surgery to see if they can find more blood clots, which they did in his right leg. They monitor him daily, he started eating solid foods and the Physio is working with him daily. Today they are doing to take him to the roof of the hospital to get some fresh air. Due to covid none of his family members is allowed inside the hospital but do get updates from the nurse and Physio on a daily basis. If he continues to improve he will be moved out of ICU.

Thanks for every one that cared and was praying for him and still do. We really appreciate all of you!

Here is the latest. He is back to the regular ward. He is on solid food, no ventilator. His Doctors are very happy with his progress as are his Physio people. The pain and tingling in his legs is gone. If everything continues he may be sent home Wednesday.

Good news indeed!

Thank both of you for the updates.

Good news. I hope that he has a full and complete recovery.

Great news to hear this PH is improving, let's hope he is on the road to a full recovery and no more risk from serious complications. Best wishes to him and his family.

I think this shows the risks Ph's and associated staff face day to day. Let alone the last 18 months of CV19 on the industry.

Wishing a speedy recovery!!!!

Glad to hear he is improving. Its dangerous work being around wild animals.
One of the Namibia PH's I hunted with also related a tale of another PH approaching one that was down, it spun its head around just as he got to it, and stabbed him in the heart, the PH died right there.

Glad to hear that Marco is getting better and wish him the best.

This is a good reminder to anyone that you can never be too cautious and so wanted to share this thread:

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
