@Just Gina and I are in shock and very choked up over this. Richard of Afton House messaged me when we were out to lunch at Cheesecake Factory yesterday. I didn't believe it and told him he must have this Confused with CB, Bossie's dad who had just recently passed away while on a trip to Mozambique with Bossie. Richard then sent a voice WhatsApp to confirm and Gina messaged Lizzy who then called Gina back immediately. It had literally just happened. Lizzy was of course in a very bad state.
Bossie had returned from another trip to Mozambique and was very tired and didn't feel well. He told Lizzy he wanted to lay down and asked if she would join him. She did and he told her he loved her and asked to kiss her, she said yes and he did, then collapsed and died. Apparently a massive heart attack. You can imagine the anguish that poor women is going through. Gina told her we love her and DJ and are here for them.
For those of you who know Christy, basically Bossie's step son from an earlier relationship. He considers Bossie to be the closest thing to a father to him that he has. He is an impressive young man and is here in the US working as he has the past several years. He called this morning and is flying home tomorrow. He assured me Lizzy and DJ are safe and have some family and friends around them.
I feel extra bad as my phone was doing an update early this morning and I missed a call from DJ. I have not been able to talk to him yet but we have messaged. He and Bossie have been through a lot a challenging times and also a lot of good times together. I've had the privilege of witnessing some of all that. Bossie and DJ had a wonderful relationship, better than many fathers and sons.
Myself, Gina and her dad had a very special trip hunting with Bossie and DJ and touring Kruger with Lizzy. Gina and her dad have only met the polite young Gentleman version of DJ that emerged after Lizzy came into their lives. Lizzy is an amazing lady who took on a huge challenge and understood she was not just marrying Bossie but DJ as well. She has some great stories such as the first time she grounded DJ and he was in shock and didn't know what to do so looked to Bossie who was also bewildered and told him he's on his own with that
Bossie had a lot going on with his South Africa hunting, Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe trips. But was especially dedicated recently to some ventures in Mozambique. He always put 110% of his efforts into anything I've witnessed him doing. He got as excited about an African Wild Cat as a lion. The night I shot my Serval with my last functional round, after one misfire, we celebrated like it was a Big 5 critter. Honestly it was more challenging than the two lions I've gotten
Please keep Lizzy, DJ and Christy in your prayers over the next days, weeks, and probably months as they figure out how to move forward.
