Goeie dag almal,

Glad to be here to learn from and contribute to such a vast resource and community! I'm a book author with 16 titles and shooting instructor (defensive handgun/rifle, plus safari-prep), having been blessed with five hunts in Africa to date, 52 animals taken. PG and buffalo, as I'm not interested in the cats or elephant. (OK, maybe hippo....) I'm not here to promote or advertise my titles, but I may like to quote from my safari book occasionally to bolster a post.

I'm an advocate for hunting clients getting into very good fitness, having no fear of/flinching from their rifles, using heavy-for-caliber quality bullets at reasonable MVs for extensive walk-and-stalk hunting. I believe a reasonable standard of on-demand performance is 3 shots offhand at 100yds in a pie plate (and in a tea cup saucer from shooting sticks).

Once I got into General Aviation as a Private Pilot (fixed-wing and rotorcraft) and aircraft owner, my time and money for African hunting was usurped (momentarily). My wife is keen to go to Africa, so we'll put together a buffalo/PG hunt next year. I've plenty of light rifles in .308/.30-06, my favorite medium in .35 Whelen AI in M1917 action, and my only heavy of .450 Dakota Model 76 African. (The .35 Whelen is new and has yet to be blooded.)

We live in the Rural Mountainous Inland West of the USA, where life is healthy and rational. However, 130 days in the African field sets quite a "hook", so I'm keen to return soon. I wish you all Good Hunting!

Welcome to AH!

Are you opinionated and eccentric? I like people that are opinionated and eccentric.

As long as they generally agree with me

I enjoy a good argument, too.

Welcome to AH Kenneth. Looking forward to your contributions! How about a recent hunt report to start things off?

Thank you all. Africa is not on our calendar for 2026, but likely next year. Maybe someplace new, such as Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, or Zim, I'll be studying the matter diligently.

Welcome to AH!

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.

Dan who is C. W. Richter? He seems to not be a fan of myself!
