I’ve enjoyed @BJH65 thread and all the DG rifles posted—some beautiful rifles.

So here’s a spinoff:

Two-rifle safari battery—one plains game rifle, one dangerous game rifle. What are you bringing?

M77 Hawkeye African .375ruger
M77Hawkeye African .280ai

If I had to leave within the next two weeks:

Weatherby Mark V Euromark in .300 WBY Mag.
CZ550 in .416 Rigby

If given several months to think about it, there's no telling what I might decide.

Last year it was a 416 Rem Mag and a 300 Win Mag, the year before it was a 458 Win Mag and a 30-06, year before that it was a 404Jeffery and 375 H&H. This year I am thinking 416 Rem and 9.3x62. 2027, 416 Rem and back to a 375 H&H, I’ve settled on the 416 Rem as my DG rifle and PG rifle could be anything from 270 Win up to 375 H&H. I am fortunate to have plenty of choices. Here is the 416 Rem and 300 Win in action last year.

You have the correct idea. I try to take two new rifles on every Safari and most other significant hunts>

On my first safari, I took a matched pair of vintage FN Browning rifles from the 1960's. The PG gun was a Medallion Grade in 308 with a vintage Balvar 2.5-8x optic. The DG gun was a Safari Grade in 375HH with a Z6i Swarovski.

My most recent safari was last year and I took a nice short light weight Carbon-Titanium Fierce CT Edge in 7mm/08 topped with a FFP 1-8x LPVO. My DG rifle was a P14 Enfield ER Shaw Custom in 375HH wearing a Kahles K16i that I used to bag a nice Cape Buff. No good pics of them in hand at the moment so here are a few more of the Brownings.

For my most recent hunt my son and I bagged a pair of Texas Nilgai using our 338wm rifles. His a lefty custom Mauser with a Shaw bbl and mine a Sako 85. Both scored one shot kills at modest ranges of 237y and 155y. Here is a shot of both rifles with the one my son smoked at 237y with one shot.

This year (In 23 days!) I'm taking a Sako AV 375 HH and a Husky 6.5x55 for my first Buff and opportunistic PG. The Husky shoots lights out and was $500. I think I'm more excited to be taking it than the 375!

Here’s mine. And quite a good amount of satisfaction they’ve been giving me over the years.

There is a Ruger Hawkeye African in 6.5 Swede I’ve been trying to exercise restraint in not purchasing that I’ve been eyeing hard the last few days

If I had to choose from what I own I would probably take my .375H&H and .308.

But I would like to use my wife’s 7x64 if it was for Africa.

If I had to leave tonight, I’d take, from top;

Second one, Dakota 76 .416 Rigby w/400gr. TSX and Barnes banded solids

Bottom of pile, Remington 7600 .30-06 w/180gr. Swift A-Frame

If I had to leave tonight, that is. Tomorrow.. no way to know, no promises.

BUT…one of these days I want to take this custom Mauser G33/40 in 280 Ackley built by Bill Dowtin. I bought it with intents of using it for plainsgame, but I just don’t target plainsgame enough to need a dedicated rifle and have a hard time leaving my Rigby at home.

My trusty proven custom AHR/Robar Brno ZKK-602 458 Lott (top) and my semi custom Winchester M70 Classic stainless 375 H&H (bottom) for plains game. Since I use 300 grain Swift A Frame’s for my 375 I’m all set if we run into DG while plains game hunting. One never knows, may have an opportunity for a DG PAC animal.

That’s a beautiful rifle. I have “an ugly” (compared to that rifle) Composite Stocked/Carbon Barreled Cooper in 280 AI. It shoots phenomenally.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
