Have YOU Become a Curmudgeon?

I believe I am, but I will say that the older I get the more disdain I have for elderly people; it's not like people become assholes as they get older..... assholes just turn into old entitled assholes!

Example: Who told people over the age of 65 that it was socially acceptable to have private conversations on SPEAKER PHONE in public?

Wait till you're over 65 and can no longer hear the damn thing unless it's turned to speakerphone.

Actually, I see more young people doing that bullshit in public places. Especially East Indian young people who hang out in the nearby donut shop zooming with their relatives in the Punjab. On and on and on with that jabbering. Hey, the f*cking phone is in your hand in front of your face. Why are you shouting at it? Moron! Unfortunately, it's -20° outside so the rest of us have sit and listen to it. Ugh!

If being over 70 yrs old and have little use of the morons & idiots of the world means you are a curmudgeon, then.... Yup I am one!
I second that. At 85 I have no sympathy for any of the whining, woe is me, I'm offended crap. I'd love to smack them right upside the ears and try to knock some sense into them.

Is there an age requirement? If not I meet all the rest of the criteria. Thankfully now that I’m married the wife acts as go between so I don’t have to deal with people as often.

My father had it down to a science he’d tell most people to “f” off at the beginning of the conversation after that he’d know immediately if they were “offendedable” or not. I learned a lot of life lessons from father…

I definitely am.

The older I get, the more screwed up I find society, critical thinking, etc is in the general populous.

The older I get, the less I care. I don't throw starfish back in the ocean anymore.

Get off my lawn. Also, I hate lawns so I bought a house on 40 acres with no lawn.

Pro Curmudgeon here. I'm on board with this quote.

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

Becoming a Curmudgeon?

I've always been one!

Any evening before we head out on the town my wife gives me the same instructions:

“Remember… you promised to keep your mouth shut when topics come up that you’re highly opinionated about.”

Which is tricky… because the list of topics I’m highly opinionated about includes rifles, scopes (Do you really get what you pay for), bullets, trucks, barbecue, dogs, politics, weather forecasts, whether pineapple belongs on pizza (it doesn’t), quality steak, how to season cast-iron, pocket knives, chainsaws, boats, and the proper way to cook bacon.

So essentially my job for the evening is to sit quietly, nod occasionally, and try not to mutter “well actually…” into my bourbon.

Prior to starting my own company, every performance review I ever had, started with “you don’t know when to keep your mouth shut”

I play well with others as long as they agree with me….
My wife tactics are a little different.
If topic comes up that might have me say stuff. She tells everyone don’t ask him if you don’t want to hear his opinion. I love him to death but he is to brutally honest.

Hell I thought honest was a good thing.
It was 40 years ago anyway.

I’m told that my two daughter-in-laws think I’m am. I’m a bit stuck in my ways and not afraid to confront and solve problems without dancing around. They like me and definitely know I would do anything for them but they both came from households of only sisters with a strong mother and weak father - no men. That’s not how our family works so it’s a bit foreign to them. I’m the oldest of two boys and the wife and I had two boys and two girls and we raised the boys to be men. My daughter-in-laws also have sons now and are learning the difference. When they both were pregnant they wondered out loud about how to raise boys. They seem to be adjusting well. That’s good because I’m not changing now!

Let’s see.
  1. Most drivers are idiots
  2. I hate facechat and other social meadia.
  3. I guess I am a social curmudgeon.
  4. I hate hipsters. Mostly because of the way they dress and the fact that have chased bourbon and caused the prices to rise.
  5. I hold the door open for all females.
  6. I address females as females not as they them or what ever.
  7. I hate lists.

It’s a shame we live in a time where standing for what you believe is seen as bad…. what happened to say what you mean and mean what you say??

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
