Did anyone spend any money so far at the Atlanta DSC convention?

I did not make any major purchases on the floor but I do have a few items in my shopping cart online right now. Items include a ParkWest rifle, Kimber 2K11 Comp, and a dove hunt in Argentina.

Congrats on your new 470 NE!

ParkWest you say...which one? Did you look at their SD-22 full size training rifle?

sounds like u had an eventful day!

it was my first DSC convention. I got there at 9 and left at 5. like a lot of us here I am sure, I was like a kid in a candy store! i had a long conversation with Graham Wright regarding reloading for old cordite double rifles which was an absolute delight!

additionally i ran into the wonderful people at the Kowas Adventure Safaris booth (Namibia) where i did an amazing plains game hunt in 2016. Jacques is an incredible PH and an even better person.

a wonderful day!

I spent quite a bit of time taking with them today about a possible 3 rifle battery of the 22 trainer and a PG and DG rifle set. Discussed possible caliber and configurations on the PG and DG rifles. I’d have to liquidate quite a few of my left handed Model 70s and I’m just not sure I want to do that but it’s certainly an intriguing thought excercise.

I really like that SD-22 and will end up with one setup like my 416 Rigby or will add a .375 setup like the SD-22.

Graeme Wright is a top guy and super knowledgeable on double rifles , their loads and regulation . He is also an outstanding dangerous game rifle shot .

I’ll start. i continue to feed my double rifle addiction. picked up a Rizzini 470NE. i also am looking to book an Austrian mouflon/stag hunt, and also a cape buffalo hunt in tanzania. expensive day but so much fun!
Congratulations!! Pics????

Booked a hunt, met with my outfitter for this coming summer and bought some shooting sticks. Got measured for a rifle that's on order. Resisted a Rigby Sidelock in 350 #2 at William Larkin Moore. But I may eventually give in. Met with the fabulous folks at Gracy Travel & Parkwest Arms. Got ignored at Steve Barnett guns. Had a chat with Larry Potterfield. Got sore feet.

I did but the last two boxes of .410 caliber A-Frames that Swift had.

They said they are getting more caught up and should have more bullets available on the future.
People going to SCI will be counting on it.

Gracy Travel and ParkWest have great people and are easy to spend time with.

On the ignoring comment, it’s fascinating to watch people at these shows. Some look like they have resources and some don’t…but that’s a big mistake if a vendor relies on that. Buzz Charlton told me a story of one of his first big shows when he was much younger and didn’t understand the market. Some college kids came down the row joking around and grabbing material from vendors. He didn’t take them seriously and didn’t talk to them. Later they came back but this time with dad. He wrote a check for 21 day safaris for his son and friends to one of the vendors near Buzz. Expensive lesson.

yeah i must not look the part either. most vendors booking trips were very chatty but not so much with not all but a few of the vendors with guns for sale. i went back twice to one booth that had two 470ne i had questions about and nobody approached me. i bought the rizzini 470ne from a different vendor of course lol.

still even with that stuff, a great event!

Are you kidding me? Does your wife or girlfriend go to the mall and come home empty handed?
All that said it was a better turn out than I expected but several PHs
Said a lot of talking very little booking! I had my list of people to talk to and depending on upcoming quotas I have 3 that I’ll book between 2027-28.
Talked to the Rigby and Mauser folks and one more will be following me home!
Talked to as many of the PHs I know or have hunted with and 4-5 others.
Was a treat to chat with Graeme Wright even gave me 2 tips on one of my doubles that will be helpful!
Caught up with Bill at Swift but felt bad as I forgot to bring my most recent collection of “at a boys”
(Swift bullets I recover in the skinning shed). He said that production will continue to head back to normal as materials and labor issues are improving! Copper for jackets comes from Canada and trade issues have been difficult and increased cost!

This was my first time at a hunting convention. I went with one of my shooting and hunting buddies and we had a great time. I had a good talk with Cazatur’s proprietor. I am scheduled to hunt with them in April 2027 for Gredos, mouflon and boar. I really appreciated the opportunity to meet with them and the wideranging discussion. I also stopped by Glacier Guides and had a great talk. I am in the planning stages of a bear hunt and think Glacier Guides is a good solution as I want to bring my wife, and my buddies who have hunted, or live in Alaska, are emphatic that traditional hunting conditions are not likely to be conducive for women. Glacier Guides hunts off a boat/yacht. With four hunters, one has sole use of the boat, and I think this would be an incredible way to see a part of the world few people see, and the accommodations are pleasant enough for my wife to enjoy. Blaser reps were great, and v helpful as I want to get a nice woodstock for my R8. It was incredible to speak with someone who knew what they were talking about. Have a business card and onward with the upgrade. The gunmakers were great, and nothing better than handling Rigby, Purdey, and many German rifles. I saved a lot of money because of the discrimination that exists toward LH shooters. I had a blast talking to all of the gunmakers, gear companies and optics reps. Swaro’s Dean Capuano was there and he was v gracious in helping me select a mountain scope for Spain. Honestly, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning.

A great way to spend a Saturday. Absolutely!

There a fine line for salesman not being too pushy or aggressive versus being seen as not caring or ignoring people.

Yeah...years ago when rigby had been bought by the california bunch they used to have a big fancy booth at sci....this was when I still had my rigby 470 sidelock Paul had built me...they had small columns around the edge of the booth with rifles on display on them. I was standing looking at a double and a young salesman came up and said to me, I bet you wish you had one of those don't you ?.....I kept quiet and stared at him for a bit, then laughed and said no chance...I have a real one that Paul built me in London.....his face was a picture as I walked off past him... I thought that will teach you you little prick.... :D...my standard uniform was jeans ..jb hill cowboy boots ..shirt and a leather bomber type jacket....

In my precious life when I had the lambos and was in the showroom in London a lot the sales manager was a good friend...this was in the 1980s and he said you never know who will come in or who they are....his standard to size people up was to check their shoes/boots and watch...he said his experience was that you couldn't tell by their clothes most of the time, but people with money usually wore expensive shoes and watches...

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
