KMG Hunting Safaris 2025 Season Photos

Down in our area we have what we often refer to as two types of Bushbuck. The sweetveld( translated to sweet-bush) and the sourveld Bushbuck.( translated to sour-bush). The difference is basically where one would find them. Sweetveld refers more to thorn trees, wild olives and typical browsing where sourveld refers to a type of grass that we find down in our area.
The sweetveld rams are for most part much larger in horn length compared to the sourveld rams. One will also see a lot more sourveld rams out in an afternoon, since they come out of the ravines and feed on the grass plains close to the edges of the thick bush, so much easier to see. The sour veld rams will still grow big bases, but often lacks the length of the sweetveld rams.

Here is an ancient sourveld ram our huntress got after stalking to a mere 45 yards.

After roughly a 2 hour stalk in some open country, needing to switch positions a couple of times due to a questionable wind, we watched this ram chasing other rams away from his group of females. We crawled for about 50 yards where we laid in the shade of a thorn tree for roughly another 15 minutes as he never seemed to be clear. What was clear was that he had a pattern. He would round up some females from the one side, and sprint off to the right hand side where he was keeping eye on a particular ram trying to join the herd.
This was the only opportunity where he would be open, and after he did this for the second time, we set up on the bipods in a prone position, in the direction of the intruder ram.
At the third attempt to chase the new ram away, he stopped roughly 15 yards away from his herd, and offer a broadside shot at around 230 yards.
Once we got to him, I could see that he was a spectacular ram. I knew the age would be there after already confirming his bases with the spotting scope two hours prior.
I have said it a few times that age always comes first, and that we are not really tape measure hunters, but when you can see something is special, I don't mind having a quick look. This ram went 19 1/4." Paired that with his age, he had plenty of years to spread his wonderful genes.

The 375 got into the action, first with this Impala, which we stalked to roughly 35 yards. After spotting a couple of rams in an opening, we descended into a valley and popped out in the shadows just below them. At that range, the animals seem to have an extra sense. The Nyala ewes that were gathering around the water, a mere 25 yards from us, picked us out. We were partly secluded which offered us the opportunity to open the sticks. Once they scattered, the Impala ram took his first step to bolt, but the 375 bullet got there first.
Warthog we watched coming out of the bush line, and walk all the way to come and eat in a green patch roughly 170 yards below us. We stalked to lower down through the rocks to a mere 65 yards. Once we sat down over the short sticks, it was simply a question of waiting for him to turn for a decent shot.

How these giants move so effortlessly in these Eastern Cape mountains remains a mystery. This Eland bull truly had it all.

The golden hour produces again. Last light shot on this phenomenal Nyala bull, required a big effort on recovery. We always maintain that big areas produce big animals, and this Nyala was no different.

Beautiful chocolate colored Cape Bushbuck ram. Cape Bushbuck can get even darker than this, bordering jet black. The king of the valleys of the Eastern Cape. What life is about....

This great Fallow Buck was hunted with us during the season. Out of the rut, I rate hunting them as difficult as a Kudu. They simply have no style, no routine and do everything that you don't expect them to do. Great length and great palms on this buck. Could not wish this to be the result for a nicer gentleman!

Looks like he has 2 1/2 curls with tips pointing out and ivory colored - so a good mature bull to shoot?

Correct. Horns flaring at the top.

Great day adding to his Tiny 10 for our hunter. The Tiny 10 slam is such an worthy and fun slam to pursue! Each antelope is a giant in his own world, and offers such a difference in the experience of the pursuit. This is an excellent Steenbuck ram at the top, and an ancient Common Duiker below.

Many don't know that the Golden Wildebeest originated out of the Thuli Block in Botswana. Through human intervention, they have spread across Southern Africa, allowing greater herds to develop. This could only have been done by placing a value to these animals in order to create a strong enough population in order to be hunted. Once again, hunting, and hunting alone has proven to be the best form of conservation in the preservation as well as the advancement of a species. Although the Golden Wildebeest are still classified as Blue Wildebeest in terms of species as far as the SCI books , we still need to distinguish the differences between the two.

Here our hunter took a cracking Golden Wildebeest bull on his recent hunt with us!

This is a serious Blue Duiker. Through the excellent predator control in the area, these tiny critters flourish. Without the countless hours of efforts, keeping the numbers of Jackal and Caracal in check, these Blue Duiker numbers have never been better. Conservation through the sustainable utilization model can not be topped.

Anti hunters will simply never understand the contributions hunters make. From the time he/she gets on the plane, arriving to camp, creating jobs for the camp staff, trackers, whether dipping and packing or taxidermy, the shipping agents, all the way until the animal is hanging on his wall. There is a constant value chain. Because of hunters, thousands of people have jobs in Southern Africa.

Here is another 50"+ Kudu bull for our hunter. The appreciation says it all. This bull has had many years to spread his wonderful genes over multiple seasons. Hunters, we salute you.

This ancient Blue Duiker ram was the other half of the story from the last Blue Duiker that we posted. Between our group of hunters, they had two Blue Duikers on their list, and hunted less than a mile apart on the same day, and were successful within an hour of each other. This is a photo for the ages.

Within our organization, age in the animals that we hunt are of utmost importance. If we want to be sustainable, there is simply no other way.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
