Just got back from Limpopo province and had an excellent experience. I will attempt to post some photos here for the first time.

Congratulations on your hunt. Who was your PH and which of their camps did you go to?
 
A big part of any hunt is the plans and anticipation,and I've been thinking about Africa for a long time. I've accomplished what I wanted to do in North America. I've hunted in Alabama,Mississippi,Texas,New Mexico,Arizona,Colorado,Utah,North Dakota and Montana. I've also hunted Ontario,Manitoba,Alberta and British Columbia. So I was ready to go to Africa.

I decided a proper 375 H&H is required and I set about finding one. An online search led me to JD Outfitters and Jerry Noblin. Jerry offers a free safari with Kuche Safaris when you buy certain rifles.

I was skeptical of anything free so I did my due diligence and found out the whole thing is on the up and up. I bought a Model 70 375 Alaskan and booked an August safari with Koos,the owner of Kuche Safaris.

Jerry Nobler was kind enough to make custom ammo for my rifle with Barnes TSX bullets and I was in buisness.

Having bought the Model 70 Alaskan in 375,I discovered that I have a thing for big bores and was able to buy a New Haven Model 70 in 416 with exceptional wood from a member here. Jerry Noblin found me a Model 70 Supergrade in 3o8 with very nice French walnut.

I decided to take the 308 and the 416 and spent a good bit of time shooting them in preparation.

Koos and I decided to hunt out of his Limpopo camp,I liked the idea of hunting in the Limpopo river drainage system.

I arrived in Joberg about 9:00 PM on a Saturday night. After clearing Customs I was met by a Mr X who was recommended to help with my firearms. We quickly picked up my firearms and I was escorted to City Lodge Hotel for the night.
 
I was met early the next morning in the Hotel lobby by my PH for the week, Pete. Pete and I picked up two hunters from Kansas and we were on the road to the Limpopo camp.

After a 4 hour ride and quick lunch, we were hunting by 2:00. We had seen a fine Kudu bull about a mile from the lodge on the way in, and I asked if we could hunt him. We spent until dark looking for him and never laid eyes on him. But I was able to take the Blesbuck pictured not long before sunset. What a thrilling moment to see him,stalk him and take him of sticks at 120 yards. My first african animal was really an emotional experience for me. I was hooked forever on Africa.
