Free-ranging Kudu bull of a lifetime

Absolutely incredible!

I shot my first kudu last week, but I didn' t get kudu, kudu gets me. My new favourite in Africa

Ok , so what is the back ground to the video guys?

Which area was the video shot?

Cheers
Stu

Yep he'd be my second kudu for sure. And just how much would he cost?

That is one handsome monarch!

Thanks a lot for all the great comments.... He is surely a bull of a lifetime!!!

The video was taken in Namibia, on the Kowas Hunting Safaris' hunting area. It's in a truly free-ranging area, no high fences, NOTHING to keep him back.

We stalked the kudu bull with a client, that wanted to shoot a big kudu bull. After some discussion, we decided not to take him. He needs to pass downs his genes, since he was with a group of about 10 kudu cows. He is still in his prime and doing his job. We opted to go after an older bull.

Long story short, he is still out there.... and MAYBE one day, we will get him when he is old enough.

We as hunters should be able to make a decision like that if we want 60" kudu bulls to still roam our areas one day. It was not an easy call, but I know in my heart it was the right one.

My best,
Jacques

Well done You and the hunter.
Its not what you shoot but what you choose not to shoot. As an experienced stalker and deer manager from Scotland once said to me .

As usual, your ethics are impeccable Jacques. I hope you're hunting his offspring in decades to come.

Cheers
Tim

Thanks a lot @blacks

I'm sure we will take him one day... But it's not his time yet.

BTW, that big kudu bull was less than a kilometer away from where you shot yours ;)

Amazing Kudu. Tough to walk away from a Bull like that, but letting him spread his genes is good conservation for sure.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
