Companies that are Non-Supportive of Hunting

It's funny you said Orvis. They always struck me as having an anti hunting vibe even though they definitely support hunting through wing shooting. Same kind of vibe I get at REI.

@Hank2211 found another one...

LAN (which I think used to be called LAN Chile) recently issued the following notice:

Due to our commitment to the protection of the environment and its animal species, we will no longer accept for transportation of dead animals exhibited as trophies of game hunting, even when the cargo complies with all IATA requirements. Special attention is being given to the following species: Lions, Leopards and other felines of similar size, Rhinos, Buffaloes, Elephants, Any other species that has been the victim of game hunting. If you have any questions please contact your Sales Representative or Inside Sales Agent.

Note the use of the term "victim of game hunting."

In conversations with Air Canada (who have adopted a similar policy, although not quite as offensively), I asked them why they were prepared to carry a moose, for example, without any permits or indication that the animal was lawfully taken, while they were unwilling to carry a leopard, accompanied by a CITES quota issued by CITES in Switzerland, an export permit issued by the country in which it was hunted, and an import permit issued by the country to which it was going. Surely, one is demonstrably legal (probably the most legal cargo they carry), while the other might be, but who knows?

The PR person to whom I spoke acknowledged that this seemed a bit backwards, and had to agree that legality of the cargo likely wasn't the real reason, but that's what he'd been told to say. He agreed to take my argument further up the chain; unsurprisingly, I've yet to hear back.

I would suggest that hunters find another airline to use when going south. If it isn't clear, we as hunters should boycott LAN airlines.

Verizon. They suddenly dropped the Outdoor Channel and the Sportsman Channel. They continued Al Jazeera.
That says everything about Verizon.

We dropped Verizon (TV/Internet/Phone both house and 3 cells), after they dropped SC and OC. We let them know the reason both locally, by phone call, and email. Made me feel good but don't thing they care!

And they have an awesome new spokesperson....

Don't know if it's been mentioned or not but Target is way anti. I refuse to shop there and it's a sure way to start a fight between the wife and I if I find out she has.

Explanation of what they've done @gizmo? Not arguing, just trying to keep from heresay and trying to show some type of documentation.

I'm curious about Target also.

They are very politically active on the other side of the isle. When the current owners bought target some years back they removed all fishing and hunting equipment from their stores.

at one time 20 or so years ago that had a fishing and hunting section much like Walmart does.

Yeah I will probably be moving away from Verizon as well. Removing the OC and SC had me pissed and calling. Seeing Ricky had me furious and I figure it is time to make a change. That will be out on the list of things to do!

I know they don't have outdoor equipment anymore, but they also cater to a highly female demographic and merchandise as such, which is why I prefer Walmart and rarely go to Target.

How and where? Links, proof, articles? I couldn't find anything in a quick search.

Could it be just a financial/business decision for Target?

About three posts into this thread, Jerome posted Facebook. As far as I am concerned, anyone posting on Facebook is supporting one of the biggest problems with anti hunters that exists on the internet. Zuckerberg and his group are making millions off everyone, and using their platform to support anti hunting. Makes no sense at all. Never been on there, never will.

@Royal27 i was looking too but been hung up on calls.
This may take me a couple of posts but according to their website their political donations are split 49% republican 49% democratic and 1% bipartisan. https://corporate.target.com/corporate-responsibility/civic-activity/political-contributions
However when they donated money to republican canadates that were opposed to same sex marriage
http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2013/07/25/2357871/target-anti-lgbt-cuccinelli-christie/
They gave a public apology and backtracked stating
"Targets support of the GLBT community is unwavering, and inclusiveness remains a core value of our company," Chief Executive Officer Gregg Steinhafel said. The company has also said that its political action committee has split donations evenly between both parties this year. (PAC donations involve money from employees and shareholders, as opposed to the corporate funds used to donate to MN Forward.)"

That in itself is enough to make me not shop there but it's off topic. Anyway, I remember buying outdoor sporting goods there in the early 90's and remember when they pulled them off the shelves. It was at the same time they stopped selling toy guns due to Clintons anti gun "prevent children from getting Dad's gun" campaign.
More to come gimmie a few

Understand, I get annoyed when my job keeps me from posting here like I would like too....

OK, I dumb, how is your job related to you posting on a hunting web site?

It isn't. Sometimes I actually have to work when I want to post here instead. LOL
