Someone jump on an airplane after Xmas and make it happen!
LDE hunt of a lifetime.
Excellent offer :D Beers:

Cancelation offer is 30k

Looks like a great offer and wish I could take advantage of it Nathan. You may want to clarify if the offer of 30k is in dollars or Euros.

Having hunted Cameroon 4 times, I know there are areas with eland and some without, or very few, could you tell us what concession/area this hunt will take place in?

Does the 1650 license fee allow for 2 'type A' animals, meaning one could hunt eland and buffalo?

How far of a drive is your camp from Garoua?

Andrew, you beat me to these questions. Which block will this take place on? Is it nearest to Faro, Benoue or Bouba Ndjida Parks? And are 2 A and 4 b/c allowed or just the LDE?

If all checks out, depending on which block, this is an excellent offer for an LDE. My hunt in ‘24 came in around 75K and friends who went this year were 90-125K depending who they hunted with.

If you’ve never hunted Lord Derby and want to, you should give this serious consideration. Depending how long the President lives (he’s 94 or 95 now) and who takes over when he dies, Lord Derby hunts could quickly become a thing of the past. They’re a truly great animal to hunt. Someone needs to grab this.

Area has eland

Good area Adjacent to NP in the North.

Excellent offer with an outstanding outfitter. Is the area you will hunt Vaimba?

USD for the hunt price. Thanks

From the area last year.

You can take two class A animals on licence. You will get your Eland then a choice of western Roan or savahna buffalo.

Somebody needs to jump on this.

You won’t see a decent Lord Derby hunt any less expensive. Cameroon is a very interesting hunt. In well managed areas there is a lot of game beyond just LDE. Roan & buffalo are both good hunts, they’ve got good quality waterbuck (sing-sing IIRC) and the harnessed bushbuck and red flanked duiker are both very neat animals. Finally, the Western Hartebeest is the largest sub-species of hartebeest IIRC; mine was a beast compared to the Liechtenstein’s and Red Hartebbests I’ve shot before.

Somebody needs to JUST DO IT!

Yes!
And thank you for your comment.

Time is getting short for travel and paperwork. I guarantee this is the right hunt if you want success on your main animals (LDE) and success on other great quality species as mentioned.

I am on a hunt now so please send a text/sms if your ready to hunt one of the key species in all of Africa.

To follow up on Nathan’s “time is getting short” comment. He’s absolutely right. Your passport has to have a Cameroonian Gun Permit pasted into it and they only do that at Cameroons embassy in Belgium. I used Shawn Kennedy of Gracy Travel and recommend her strongly for this hunt. They have a fellow in Paris to whom you FedEx your passport, he then takes a train to Brussels and gets your Visa and gun permit in person. Then he sends your passport back via FedEx. That takes 2-3 weeks.

Also, I recommend you plan on a layover day in Douala, especially coming home but an extra day on each end is wise. CamAir is terrible about delayed flights and we lost 2 days due to delays at the end of my hunt. We had to spend a day in Garoua and a day in Douala. The worst part is that we all had to re-book our flights home. Again, Gracy Travel was immensely helpful. My problem, other than the delays, was that I incurred an additional $1,500 in expenses and had to fly home economy class all the way as biz class was full. The only upside was spending a few days hanging out with some great guys I hadn’t known before. That time made me realize that I will be hunting someday in the future with Divan Labuschagne. He’s an excellent guy to spend time with, as well as a damned good PH.

All,
Just for the record, I’ve never met Nathan Askew and I have no interest in or benefit from his offer. I’m commenting purely and solely based on my experience of hunting Lord Derby Eland in 2024. It was a truly great hunt with a fantastic PH, despite issues I had with the safari company.

Somebody needs to jump on this hunt very quickly.

I’ve been to Africa 11 times, hunting in six different countries so I think I have enough experience to recognize a good hunt. Hunting Lord Derby Eland is much more than a good hunt, it’s a great hunt for what is probably the pinnacle plains game species anywhere on the continent. It’s also a hunt where it’s very possible to lose this opportunity very soon and once Cameroon is gone there will be no place left to hunt LDE. We are always going to be able to hunt buffalo and most other plains game, but the number of people who will have the opportunity to hunt Lord Derby in the future is really small, even if it does last for a while longer. There will be guys who will wish they’d taken advantage of this when they could have.

This is an outstanding price that’s well below the cost of nearly all blocks in Cameroon that hold LDE. I’ve got several friends who hunted LDE this past season and they all spent $90,000-$125,000 for their entire safari. This hunt is an opportunity to do the same hunt for about half of that cost or a bit less, once you’ve added everything into the whole hunt. The weather should be real nice on these dates and bulls should be getting black necks by then, though not all bulls will have started turning black by then.

Some of our group are going to lament letting this opportunity pass when they can no longer do it anywhere.

Somebody needs to grab this offer and run with it.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
