Politics

I’ve got to admit, if it were Manchin vs Trump, I just might vote Democrat for the first time in my life!
Although Manchin "purports" to be a moderate Democrat, when push comes to shove, he has voted with Chuck Schumer 91% of the time. Maybe in the past it was for his own political survival when WV was a solidly blue state. WV is now mostly red and he may not survive the next election. I do like Manchin's spunk though.

Manchin acts like a centrist, but he caves in 91% of the time. There were some people trying to get him to flip to the Republican party.

It would be easier if it was RFK2 versus Trump. Although I disagree with some of the formers policies, he is a hunter and conservationist, along with being a classical liberal on many policies that would put him far to the right of the Republican platform.

I don't trust any politician with a Kennedy last name. That entire family tree has a shady and checkered past.

I’d hate to tell you the story about the “other guys“ family tree then.

Enlighten me.

Fred Trump. Brooklyn and Long Istand low rent district, leveraging a number of clever usury tactics. Racist rental policies. Corrupt back room deals. Was so scandalous, he was not part of NY society.

Fast forward to DJT, who couldn’t even get voted into Sleepy Hollow Country Club and had to buy his own club across town as a consequence. This was way before the political animal Trump was born, just the “businessman”. The only other people of status I know of that couldn’t get in were the Clintons.

You may be right, or I could also see the Dems employ a strategy of running a Biden/Newsome ticket for 2024; knowing full well that old Joe is never going to complete the second term. Either way, I think that a Desantis/Gabbard ticket would have had a legitimate shot at winning (just my gut feel).
Both may yet happen.

Millennials started being born in 1981. Gen Z started being born in 1997.

Some of us millennials are now into our early 40s. I am 35. I think a lot of people confuse who is who when talking about millennials and generation z.

Personally, I have noticed a lot of millennials are not very helpful to society. As I have noticed the same with generation x and baby boomers.

I also work with some young men who are Gen Z. One works full time with me. We do swing shifts and he spends everyday off from his full time job running equipment, driving a dump truck etc for his uncles grading business. He bought his own house and is 23 years old. I hear Gen Z constantly getting a bad reputation from everyone, including my own generation. I have noticed around my home area most are hard workers, and most work more than one job. Same as most of my generation around here had to do when we were young and starting out. And I am sure the generations before me had to do the same.

Veterans from WW1 also said that there was no way the boys who had to fight in WWII would be able to pull it off. They claimed they had been babied and were to soft for war.

I am sure that future generations will continue to say the same thing baby boomers say about millennials and millennials say about Gen Z. We have been saying that for all of recorded history.
Bottom line, All generations have individuals in them. Some are good and some are bad.
Agreed. I have four kids that work extremely hard and they have lots of friends and former classmates doing the same.

I vote for Brandon to retire and take up residency in the Sleepy Hollow Retirement Village NOW. LOL

IMO, too early to tell for '24. I predicted our current number two idiot. No one believed me :) I am wary of Big O and My Belle Michelle. We are witnessing nothing less than evil at work in plain sight. Triangulation for strategy rarely works out well and tends to be counterproductive. Walking the knife edge of neutrality is a fool's errand and aways close to something sharp. Sadly TDS is real. I can't stomach the attitude of "Don't blame me for Biden, I voted for Mickey Mouse". Pick a side.

To clean the swamp, we should have turn limits, simple. You get 2-3 turns (take your pick), and then you are out, and you become a regular citizen like us, and you go back to work. No more of these politicians who have been in politics all of their life (50-60 years). But you know they will not vote themselves out from such a cushy and lucrative job. So, what is the answer?

BTW, I'm glad the USWNT lost and are out from the Women's World Cup. They are a bunch of arrogant !@#$$, and they deserve what they got. Especially their team leader Megan Rapinoe, who BTW missed a crucial penalty kick. Hopefully they've learned a lesson but doubt it.

Whatever you believe about me is irrelevant. What I do know is that anything beyond the art of the possible is nothing but fantasy. And Donald Trump is happy to take every penny from anyone willing to believe his fantasy. He will then spend it all on his lawyers.

I would Suggest Arizona go to school on Florida. They are very similar - particularly demographically. Florida has the additional burden of fleeing emigrants from NY and NJ. From battleground state a decade ago, Dems don’t even plan to seriously contest it next year.

We also have our share of fleeing emigrants from NY and NJ. Add to that Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, just about anywhere where it's cold and they get lots of snow.

Republican party's problem in Arizona is they keep running clowns and the Dems are running moderates who don't come across as clowns. You may not like his politics, but Mark Kelly isn't a nut job. Sinema was so moderate and went against her party so much, she's not even a Dem anymore.

Well......not being allowed to join a snooty country club certainly is scandalous.

The purple haired dyke had her 15 minutes of fame......oh wait......hair color changed to blue?

IMO, LBJ's Great Society is the primary cause for the welfare mess of today.
I was too young to vote at the time, but the predictions of my dad (very blue collar working class) and my (college educated white collar) older brother have all come to pass.
One of the cornerstones of the Great Society was urban renewal. I can’t speak for the heavily industrialized North but in the South the unintended consequence was that it destroyed cohesive neighborhoods, created “the Projects”, and diminished home ownership. In an effort to “upgrade” housing, many poor were forced to sell their homes and move into government housing. In doing so, it increased the dependency on government.

It's a new month, so I will repeat. Trump is the R and Newsome is the D. The question is can any of the R's beat Newsome? Answer - NONE.
I have no doubt that this thread will keep on rolling so we can see how this post ages. I hope that we are both wrong.

I do believe that Trump will have the numbers to be the nominee but his name will only appear on the ballot as a write in. He will not be eligible to hold the office being convicted of a yet to be determined charge. The effect will be the same no matter if it is the Trump haters, or lovers that decide to take their toys and stay home on Election Day.

Look back at which D's had the highest numbers in the 2020 primary. Biden, Sanders, and I believe Warren. If they were able to produce enough votes to win with a line up like that then think what they could do with Newsome.

We are now in Obama's third term and I hate to think what a fourth will mean for this country.
