YouTube Documentary "Man Eating Lions of Tsavo"

I seldom watch movies based on real life because I know Hollywood and accuracy are many miles apart. It has kept me from watching the big screen version of this story. Liked this guys style of storytelling.

In the opinion of those here, What is the most accurate tale of these lions? (Most likely book form)

Movies are made for entertainment...not accuracy. That doesn't mean the movies aren't good, just historically inaccurate. The worst thing is that the younger generations take movies as FACT and don't do the proper research to find the real truth.

Personally, I liked the "Ghost & The Darkness".

I have no problem if movies tell a story and expand reality. They are an escape after all. Just when they are telling a real life actually happened story it should be close to factual or have a disclaimer. Just my .02

My two favorite movies about Africa are Ghost and Darkness, and Out of Africa....

There are good movies, fiction-based, also.

My way is, to read the book, watch the movie - not necessarily in that order. For example, my favourite submarine movie is The Hunt for Red October, but the book by Tom Clancy is even better.

For ghost and darkness, or man-eaters of Tsavo, there is a Patterson book of the same name, available. Recommended.

Like watching the movie or reading the Cliff's notes to do your book report... ;)

I guess I've worked in the technical field for too long. I like a more defined line between fiction and NON-fiction

I served on a submarine for 6 years in the 1990’s. Do you have any idea how many times I’ve seen “The Hunt For Red October” when we had riders onboard? And that doesn’t include “Operation Peticoat”, “Red Tide” and countless others.

Two movies about submarine life are close to accurate. “Das Boot” that depicts life on a German diesel boat in WW2 and I watched it for the first time when I got my dolphins. The second is a comedy with Kelsey Grammer called “Down Periscope”. The second one isn’t exactly Oscar worthy but for those who’ve served one a sub, it’s hilarious.

I’m able to enjoy both of the above movies for very different reasons.

For Africa, it’s “Ghost & The Darkness”.

Funny, just watched Ghost of Darkness last night for the first time. Always get asked about it. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Never been in a sub, but like Down Periscope! For me that's one of those "no matter where in the movie I catch it while surfing channels, I watch the rest" movies

Crimson Tide, my second-best movie on subs! Gene Hackman, Denzel Washington, and a Jack Russel Terrier named "Bear". And who the hell is in charge to launch! ;)
(I was joking then with my ch eng and ch mate, of who is in charge and for what then...)

I have visited the russian submarine "Foxtrot" class, in Long Beach, and Yugo pocket sub in the local museum. I am not sure I would be able to be a submariner. Congrats on your service!

“CRIMSON Tide”…damn it. Appreciate the correction. Must have blocked it out for being forced to watch it so many times with the riders.

Being on a sub isn't for everyone. It's said that submariners eat their young. I appreciate your comment, it was my honor.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
